Organizations Filed Purposes: The mission of Summer Program for Youth is to help children learn and grow academically, socially and emotionally.

Summer Program for Youth is an educational and social emotional enrichment program for elementary aged students in the Carlisle area. Our mission is to help children learn and grow academically, socially and emotionally to improve their chance of success.

Summer Program for Youth ran its traditional summer camp from June 15th through July 31st for a total of 35 days. During this time, Monday-Friday from 8-3:00pm teachers and counselors led 75 children entering 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades through academic stations and fun enrichment activities. Campers also received breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack to ensure continued nutrition. SPY participants are referred to the program by their school counselor because they are struggling academically and/or would benefit from social and emotional support and learning. Because over 90% of referred students come from low income homes SPY is offered at no charge. Historically, SPY has been located at St. John's Episcopal Church in Carlisle. For the summer of 2020, to adhere to gathering size limitations and social distancing mandates, SPY operated out of 4 different churches in the area who all offered space at their facility free of charge.

From Sept 9th - Dec 23rd, 2020, for a total of 88 days, Summer Program for Youth ran a new program called "School Year Program for Youth". The purpose of this program was to provide childcare and schoolwork assistance to at-risk elementary aged children on their days of virtual school and give parents who otherwise would not be able to afford childcare the ability to return to work outside of the home. To ensure space for children of families most in need, only students enrolled in the free and reduced lunch program at school were invited to attend. The program ran Monday thru Friday from 8:30am-3:30pm. Breakfast and lunch were provided to all students and there was no fee to attend. In addition to receiving guided school work assistance, children engaged in enrichment activities and social emotional learning. A total of 110 children participated and were divided among 6 different locations.
