HAS BEEN PROVIDING A WIDE VARIETY OF HUMAN SERVICES TO INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES THROUGHOUT BUTLER, FAYETTE, GREENE, WASHINGTON AND WESTMORELAND COUNTIES FOR OVER 50 YEARS.TODAY, THE SPHS SYSTEM INCLUDES CHILD CARE, AGING PROGRAMS, FAMILY PLANNING SERVICES, PRIMARY AND PEDIATRIC HEALTH CARE, MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT AND CARE, SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT, HOMELESS ASSISTANCE, HOME HEALTH CARE, NUTRITION SERVICES, AND FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES. SPHS IS LEADING ITS AFFILIATE AGENCIES IN THE TRANSITION FROM PROGRAM FUNDING TO FEE-FOR-SERVICE. THIS EFFORT INVOLVES STRUCTURE AND INFRASTRUCTURE CHANGES, STAFF RETRAINING, SUPERVISORY RETRAINING AND THE INTRODUCTION OF MORE DYNAMIC MANAGERIAL SYSTEMS. SPHS CONTINUES IN ITS EFFORTS TO INTEGRATE HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES ACCROSS THE CATEGORIAL FUNDING STREAMS. MOST RECENTLY SPHS IS ASSISTING THE EFFORTS TO STABILIZE SBC, THE C.A.R.E. CENTER AND MVCHS TO IMPLEMENT THEIR CENTER OF EXCELLENCE AND OTHER PROJECTS.
THE SPHS MONESSEN FAMILY CENTER IS A "ONE STOP SHOP" WHERE FAMILIES CAN OBTAIN CHILD DEVELOPMENT SERVICES, SUPERVISED VISITS, AFTER-SCHOOL ACTIVITIES, ADULT EDUCATION, RESOURCE AND REFERRAL INFORMATION AND ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION. THE SPHS MONESSEN FAMILY CENTER IS BASED ON THE PHILOSOPHY THAT THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAY TO ENSURE THE HEALTHY GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF CHILDREN IS TO SUPPORT FAMILIES AND THE COMMUNITIES IN WHICH THEY LIVE. THE SPHS MONESSEN FAMILY CENTER SERVED OVER 1,147 FAMILIES IN THE FISCAL YEAR.
