Organizations Filed Purposes: Sow Good Now is working to grow the next generation of Philanthropic Athletes by teaching them to share their time, talent and treasure through the sports they love.

Engage and empower young athletes to share their time, talent and treasure through the sports they love to benefit youth, communities, and to revolutionize the philanthropic world

The SGN Team organized and elevated the Villanova University Volleyball Team and the LaSalle University Volleyball Team for a GiveBack Event where over 40 college players donated their time and talent for over 60 youth from the Boys Club at Emlen Elementary. The youth from the Boys and Girls Club were given the opportunity to choose how $250 would be allocated to their club. Their choices were 1.sports equipment 2.arts & crafts supplies 3.higher yield learning activities. The College Athletes thought the youth would choose sports equipment however the youth chose higher yield learning supplies. This GiveBack empowered the BGC youth to have a voice in filling the needs at their location and it demonstrated to the College Players that it is important to get input from those you are hoping to serve. Food and shirts were supplied to the children and both the Villanova and LaSalle coaches and mascots attended. The mascots were important because the youth can identify with the colleges when watching their basketball teams on TV. The success was gaining proximity to needs.

During the summer when the pandemic shut down all of the schools and sports for kids in high poverty areas in Delaware County, PA. SGN engaged athletes from the following Colleges and High Schools to create virtual Give Back Videos: Ohio State Swimmers, Villanova Football, Fordham Basketball, Penn State Yoga, Syracuse Football, Malvern Prep Wrestling, Villa Maria Basketball, Stanford Football, Starlings Volleyball, Radley Run Tennis. Our athletes shared the videos through our partner organizations such as the Believe and Achieve Foundation, and the Andrew Hicks Jr. Foundation and were able to reach over 100 young people from Chester, West Chester, Upper Darby and surrounding areas. These videos led to the creation of the SowGoodNow YouTube Channel and led to future in person volunteerism. Statistics demonstrated that the athletes who volunteered for SGN during this time were interested in volunteering more when restrictions are lifted.

Sow Good Now engaged the local community in a tennis GiveBack. The event began with a tennis racket drive from local teams and clubs including a partner organization, Athletes Helping Athletes. This resulted in over 100 rackets, balls and ball hoppers being collected. SGN engaged the Radley Run Junior Tennis Coach to create an instructional video and he also safely gathered the Junior tennis team to regrip the rackets. SGN then collaborated with the Andrew Hicks, Jr. Foundation and held a two part tennis clinic with the Rustin High School Tennis Players. All of the Rustin players who wee polled admitted that this was their only opportunity for community service in 2020. Students from Villanova University also volunteered for the event because it was held on their Day of Caring. All of the participants were provided with their own tennis racket, a t-shirt, hat, lunch and tennis instruction by local tennis professionals. This event was a wonderful success in that it brought communities together and created a spirit of generosity and teamwork and also brought over 50 new volunteers to the organization. Volunteers engaged in event planning, execution, food delivery, tennis instruction and comradery buiilding activities at a time when it was needed most.
