(CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O.)WE ACCOMPLISH THIS THROUGH PREVENTION, CONSULTATION, EDUCATION, ADVOCACY, ASSESSMENT, INTERVENTION AND RECOVERY SUPPORT SERVICES. THE COUNCIL OF SOUTHEAST PENNSYLVANIA, INC. (THE COUNCIL) IS A PRIVATE NON-PROFIT PREVENTION, EDUCATION, ADVOCACY, ASSESSMENT, INTERVENTION, AND RECOVERY SUPPORT ORGANIZATION, SERVING THE COUNTIES OF BUCKS, CHESTER, DELAWARE, MONTGOMERY AND PHILADELPHIA. THE COUNCIL PROVIDES A WIDE RANGE OF SERVICES TO REDUCE THE IMPACT OF ADDICTION AND IMPROVE RELATED HEALTH ISSUES FOR THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY INCLUDING FAMILIES, SCHOOLS, BUSINESSES, INDIVIDUALS AND THE COMMUNITY, REGARDLESS OF ABILITY TO PAY, ETHNICITY, RACE, GENDER, AGE OR SEXUAL ORIENTATION.
PREVENTION, ADDICTION AND RECOVERY SUPPORT SOLUTIONS FOR SUBSTANCE USE DISORDERS
THE PRO-ACT DIVISION INCLUDES RECOVERY SUPPORT PROGRAMS AND SERVICES THROUGHOUT THE 5-COUNTY REGION. PENNSYLVANIA RECOVERY ORGANIZATION - ACHIEVING COMMUNITY TOGETHER (PRO-ACT) IS A GRASSROOTS ADVOCACY AND RECOVERY SUPPORT INITIATIVE OF THE COUNCIL COVERING SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA. PRO-ACT WORKS TO REDUCE THE STIGMA OF ADDICTION, ENSURE THE AVAILABILITY OF ADEQUATE TREATMENT AND RECOVERY SUPPORT SERVICES, AND TO INFLUENCE PUBLIC OPINION AND POLICY REGARDING THE VALUE OF RECOVERY.
PREVENTION TRAINING AND EDUCATION: SERVICES PROVIDED WITHIN SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA FOR EDUCATION AND TO INCREASE AWARENESS OF ALCOHOL, TOBACCO AND OTHER DRUGS (ATOD) TO YOUTH AND ADULTS. WE ACCOMPLISH THIS THROUGH TRAININGS, SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS, PRESENTATIONS, HEALTH FAIRS, SCHOOL BASED GROUPS FAMILY STRENGTHENING PROGRAMS AND INFORMATION DISSEMINATION. SCHOOL SERVICES SPECIALIZE IN PROVIDING QUALITY SERVICES TO SCHOOLS IN SOUTHEAST PENNSYLVANIA BY A TRAINED TEAM OF STATE-CERTIFIED, MASTER'S LEVEL STUDENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (SAP) CONSULTANTS. COUNSELORS ARE DEDICATED TO PROVIDING QUALITY SERVICES TO MEET THE INDIVIDUAL NEEDS OF EACH DISTRICT AND THEIR STUDENTS. AS A PENNSYLVANIA COMMONWEALTH APPROVED TRAINER, THE SCHOOL SERVICES PROGRAM PROVIDES NUMEROUS TRAININGS FOR SAP TEAM MEMBERS.
INTERVENTION DIVISION: SERVICES FOR THOSE INVOLVED WITH THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM BECAUSE OF THEIR SUBSTANCE USE. CASE MANAGEMENT AND SUPPORT THROUGH TREATMENT AND RECOVERY FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED AS HAVING SUBSTANCE USE DISORDERS. THE COUNCIL PROVIDES A MYRIAD OF PROGRAMS THAT PROVIDE BOTH EDUCATION AND INTERVENTION SERVICES, INCLUDING CRIMINAL JUSTICE PROGRAMS (DUI, TASC, TASC DCDP); CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES (TRADITIONAL CASE MANAGEMENT, MOMS PROGRAM, CHILDREN & YOUTH AND MOBILE DRUG TESTING).(CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O.)THE PURPOSE OF THE CAYA/RISE PROGRAM IN CENTRAL AND UPPER BUCKS COUNTY IS TO CREATE A HAVEN OF HOPE FOR YOUTH AND THEIR FAMILIES THROUGH PREVENTION, EDUCATION, AND THERAPEUTIC SUPPORTS EARLY IN DEVELOPMENT. THIS PROGRAM IS DESIGNED FOR YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULTS (12 TO 25 YEARS OLD) WHO HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED WITH SUBSTANCE USE AND IN SOME CASES, MENTAL HEALTH CONCERNS. THE CORE CONCEPT OF THIS PROGRAM IS TO CREATE A SAFE SPACE WHERE THESE CHALLENGES ARE ADDRESSED, WITH AN EMPHASIS ON COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (CBT) WHICH FOCUSES ON CHALLENGING AND CHANGING UNHELPFUL COGNITIVE DISTORTIONS AND BEHAVIORS, IMPROVING EMOTIONAL REGULATIONS AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF PERSONAL COPING STRATEGIES THAT TARGET SOLVING CURRENT PROBLEMS AND ON FAMILY ENGAGEMENT. THE COUNCIL WAS AWARDED A THREE-YEAR GRANT FOR THIS PROGRAM THAT BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 30, 2019.DRUG-FREE COMMUNITY COALITIONS ARE FORMAL COLLABORATIVE ARRANGEMENTS AMONG GROUPS OR ORGANIZATIONS WITHIN A COMMUNITY THAT ARE FORMED OR EXPANDED TO PREVENT AND REDUCE YOUTH SUBSTANCE USE, INCLUDING PRESCRIPTION DRUG ABUSE, WITHIN THE COMMUNITY. IN A COMMUNITY COALITION, EACH MEMBER MAINTAINS ITS INDEPENDENT STATUS WHILE AGREEING TO WORK COLLABORATIVELY TO ACHIEVE A COMMON GOAL.
