Organizations Filed Purposes: PER THE BYLAWS OF THE DELAWARE & LEHIGH NATIONAL HERITAGE CORRIDOR (WHICH WERE UPDATED BY THE MERGED BOARD OF THE NATIONAL CANAL MUSEUM AND THE D&L), OUR MISSION IS TO WORK WITH GOVERNMENT ENTITIES, NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS AGENCIES, COMMERCIAL ENTITIES, THE RESIDENTS AND VISITORS TO THE CORRIDOR TO: 1. CONSERVE THE HISTORIC TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM OF CANALS AND OVERLAND RAILROADS AND AMPLIFY THE RECREATIONAL AND EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES BASED ON THEM 2. BROADLY TELL THE STORY OF THE REGION BY STRENGTHENING THE INFRASTRUCTURE FOR INTERPRETATION AND EDUCATION 3. ESTABLISH A FRAMEWORK FOR STEWARDSHIP WHICH WILL PRESERVE SIGNIFICANT HISTORIC SITES, COLLECTIONS AND ARCHIVES, ENHANCE RECREATION, AND CONSERVE THE NATURAL AND CULTURAL ENVIRONMENT 4.PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR CAPITALIZING ON THE CORRIDOR'S RICH HERITAGE AS A MEANS FOR DEVELOPMENT AND REVITALIZATION.

INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE: THE D&L ORGANIZATION RECOGNIZES THE IMPORTANCE OF PRESERVING AND REVITALIZING OUR NATURAL AND CULTURAL ASSETS WHILE PROMOTING THE HERITAGE OF THE REGION. INVESTMENT IN THE D&L NATIONAL HERITAGE CORRIDOR FUNDS PROJECTS AND SITES WITHIN OUR NATIONALLY SIGNIFICANT REGION WHICH ALLOWS FOR CULTURAL PRESERVATION AND APPRECIATION. THE EMRICK CENTER IN EASTON SERVES AS THE D&L'S HEADQUARTERS AND HOUSES THE NATIONAL CANAL MUSEUM AND ONE OF AMERICA'S LAST REMAINING MULE-DRAWN CANAL BOATS. MORE THAN 100,000 STUDENTS AND ADULTS IMMERSE THEMSELVES IN OUR HERITAGE ANNUALLY.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: THE 2017 TRIPP-UMBACH ECONOMIC IMPACT STUDY SHOWED THAT THE D&L CORRIDOR GENERATED 474.7 MILLION IN ECONOMIC IMPACT, SUPPORTED 5,665 JOBS, AND GENERATED 32.3 MILLION IN TAX REVENUE. THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE CORRIDOR HINGES ON ITS ROLE IN THE BURGEONING 19TH CENTURY AMERICAN ECONOMY. WITH NEARLY HALF A BILLION DOLLARS OF IMPACT, IT IS STILL SIGNIGICANT TODAY AND OUR PARTNERS UP AND DOWN THE CORRIDOR CONTRIBUTE MIGHTILY TO THIS FIGURE. THE D&L TRAIL TOWN AND TRAIL FRIENDLY BUSINESS PROGRAMS BUILD VISITATION TO CORRIDOR COMMUNITIES TO SPUR ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT, INCREASING THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR RESIDENTS THROUGHOUT THE D&L NATIONAL HERITAGE CORRIDOR.

NATURE & THE ENVIRONMENT: ALONG THE D&L TRAIL, VISITORS EXPERIENCE A MULTITUDE OF HISTORIC, CULTURAL, AND ADDITIONAL RECREATIONAL OFFERINGS. OUR WEBSITE PROVIDES AN INTERACTIVE TRAIL MAP THAT LINKS USERS TO VARIOUS REGIONAL COMMUNITIES, HERITAGE SITES AND ATTRACTIONS, INCLUDING MUSEUMS, PLACES FOR WILDLIFE VIEWING, AND LIVE MUSIC AND THEATER. THE D&L TRAIL IS THE GATEWAY THAT CONNECTS PROPLE WITH NATURAL BEAUTY AND WATERWAYS. THROUGH ACQUISITION AND LAND PROTECTION EASEMENTS, D&L NATIONAL HERITAGE CORRIDOR PARTNERS HAVE PRESERVED 4,173.5 ACRES SINCE 2004.
