Rooted in God's love and care, EUMA provides life-changing opportunities for those who live at the margins of homelessness to become vital members of our community.
EUMA's Rapid Re-housing My Way Home Program- EUMA staff work with any population through Erie County contracts called Independence and My Way Home. Through these grants and $157,075 match provided by private donors, EUMA staff find housing, pay for housing and help those experiencing a housing crisis stay in their housing. EUMA does this by providing first month's rent and deposit, short to medium-term rental subsidy based on need and case management services to help keep the newly housed in their home. On average, for all served by the Rapid Re-Housing program, EUMA was able to move households into permanent housing on average, 19 days after receiving the referral.EUMA's My Way Home program housed 191 individuals including 109 adults and 82 children in a total of 93 households. 69% of households were positively discharged from the program.EUMA's Independence program served 81 individuals including 73 adults and 8 children in 68 households. 65% of households were positively discharged from the program.
The Refuge - EUMA welcomes homeless families with children and youth to our 34 bed emergency shelter. We welcome all families as they come to us and are proud to keep Dads in the same room with their families. Once at the Refuge, families are moved from homeless to home quickly. They are supported to access permanent housing and the social services, employment, and other community supports needed to remain permanently housed. 225 individuals in 67 families that included 91 adults and 134 children were welcomed at The Refuge. 67% were discharged to permanet housing.
Rainbow Connection Thrift Store - In addition to to selling gently used clothing, shoes, household items, furniture, and other items at below market rates to our neighbors in need, EUMA's Rainbow Connection Thrift Store operates an Erie County Pennsylvania voucher program that provides aforementioned items, as available, to those in need. Product sales generated for fiscal years ending June 30, 2020 and 2019 were $66,812 and $74,787, respectively. NOTE: EUMA's Rainbow Connection Thrift Store was closed 44 days during the pandemic that significantly reduced sales. Each year, thrift store sales support EUMA's homeless ministries.Additionally, staff at the thrift store faciitate work therapy and employment training opportunities for worker's compensation recipients, senior aides, and at risk youth. The value of items given out to those in need through the voucher program was nearly $79,000.
