The Greater Erie Community Action Committee will eliminate poverty in Erie County through empowerment, education and community partnership.
Area Agency on Aging - Provides assessment and care management services, in-home support services, adult day care, senior protection and advocacy, and senior center services. It also provides volunteer opportunities through the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and the Foster Grandparent Program. During the year the AAA provided assessments and care management for 5,104 clients, provided in-home services for 3,151 clients, domiciliary care for 18 clients, and senior protection and advocacy services for 1,182 clients. The senior centers served 1,437 seniors and served 1,042 clients with its Primetime Wellness Program. Its volunteer programs had 524 participants.
Child Development - Offers comprehensive quality preschool educational programs that prepare eligible children to be "school ready." Nutrition, preventative health and social services are also provided. During the year, the Head Start Program had a total enrollment of 806. The Pre-K Counts Program had enrollment of 68.
Education Training and Community Services - Promotes long term economic success for low-income individuals and families through education, training, case management and self sufficiency services. Education and Training services include academic support for low-income youth with the potential for post secondary education. These services were provided to 74 clients. Community Services include housing and utility assistance provided to 680 clients, weatherization services (18 homes), family support services (24 clients), and income tax assistance (609 clients). Finally, the Food Services Program provided 337,078 meals and transportation served 207,000 rides.
