Organizations Filed Purposes: OUR MISSION IS TO SOLVE HUNGER IN CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA BY ENSURING THAT EVERYONE STRUGGLING WITH HUNGER HAS ACCESS TO ENOUGH WHOLESOME FOOD EVERY DAY. WE WILL ACHIEVE THIS BOLD GOAL WITH THE HELP OF OUR GENEROUS DONORS, VOLUNTEERS AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS.

FIGHTING HUNGER, IMPROVING LIVES, STRENGTHENING COMMUNITIES.

FIGHTING HUNGER: FACED WITH MUCH-INCREASED DEMAND DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA FOOD BANK (CPFB) QUICKLY BUILT & OPERATED A HIGHLY EFFICIENT & SAFE CRISIS RESPONSE. IN FY2020, CPFB PROVIDED OVER 52 MILLION MEALS IN CENTRAL PA, AN ACCELERATION TOWARD CPFB'S BOLD GOAL TO ENSURE, BY 2025, THAT ALL CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIANS IN NEED HAVE ACCESS TO ENOUGH NUTRITIOUS FOOD TO LEAD HEALTHY LIVES. CPFB CURRENTLY SERVES MORE THAN 450,000 PEOPLE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OVER 1,100 COMMUNITY PARTNERS IN 27 COUNTIES. ADMINISTRATIVE & FUNDRAISING COSTS COMPRISED ONLY 3% OF TOTAL EXPENSES, & 97% OF EXPENSES WERE INVESTED INTO OUR PROGRAMS. CPFB HAS RECEIVED EXTRAORDINARY FINANCIAL SUPPORT FROM DONORS FOR OUR CRISIS RESPONSE, WHICH WILL HELP SUSTAIN OUR HIGHLY-INTENSIVE EFFORTS OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL YEARS.

IMPROVING LIVES: CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA FOOD BANK, AN INNOVATOR IN THE FEEDING AMERICA NETWORK, IS COMMITTED TO IMPROVING THE LIVES OF PEOPLE IN NEED. OUR EXPANDING HEALTHCARE PARTNERSHIPS FOCUS ON IMPROVING HEALTH OUTCOMES THROUGH OUR HEALTHSHARE PROGRAM. SERVICES LIKE THE SNAP HELPLINE ASSIST WITH ENROLLMENT IN SNAP AND REFERRAL TO OTHER SERVICES. MOBILE DISTRIBUTIONS SERVED OVER 8.5 MILLION MEALS THIS YEAR, INCLUSIVE OF OUR MILITARYSHARE PROGRAM THAT FOCUSES ON VETERANS & THEIR FAMILIES. PROGRAMS LIKE KIDS CAFE, BACKPACK, & SCHOOL PANTRIES SERVED TENS OF THOUSANDS OF CHILDREN EACH WEEK, & OUR ELDERSHARE PROGRAM REACHED OVER 6,000 SENIORS EACH MONTH. AS CONTRACTOR FOR THE PENNSYLVANIA AGRICULTURAL SURPLUS SYSTEM (PASS), WE PROVIDED NEARLY 12 MILLION POUNDS OF HEALTHY PA FARM PRODUCTS STATEWIDE SINCE APRIL 2016.

STRENGTHENING COMMUNITIES: CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA FOOD BANK MAINTAINS A PERMANENT ENDOWMENT DEDICATED TO STRATEGIC INITIATIVES AND ORGANIZATIONAL PERPETUITY. ESTABLISHED IN 2009, CPFB HAS PROVIDED NEARLY $4 MILLION IN FUNDING FOR CAPACITY IMPROVEMENT GRANTS FOR OUR PARTNERS, FUNDING TO EXPAND OUR MOBILE DISTRIBUTION PROGRAMS, FRESH EXPRESS AND MILITARYSHARE, AND OTHER PROJECTS FOCUSED ON FRESH FOOD AND HEALTHY EATING. THESE PROJECTS ENABLE CPFB AND ITS PARTNERS TO SERVE MORE FRESH, NUTRITIOUS FOOD TO OUR NEIGHBORS IN NEED ACROSS CENTRAL PA. CPFB ALSO INVESTS NON-ENDOWMENT FUNDING IN OUR PARTNER AGENCIES WHEN FINANCIAL CONDITIONS PERMIT, AND DURING FY2020 COMMITTED OVER $500,000 IN FEDERAL CARES ACT FUNDING TO PARTNER AGENCIES TO REIMBURSE THEM FOR PANDEMIC-RELATED MISSION EXPENDITURES.
