Organizations Filed Purposes:
The mission of Gamut Theatre Group is to tell classic stories in new and exciting ways. Our vision is that all people cherish classic stories and share them with future generations. We create innovative and accessible theatre with an emphasis on classic stories and a commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility. We provide community engagement programs that educate and inspire, enriching the citizens of Pennsylvania and beyond. Our significant activities include: Shakespeare/Classical Mainstage Productions, Repertory Children's Theatre (Popcorn Hat Players) both in-house and on tour, and numerous Education Programs both in-house and on tour.
SHAKESPEARE/CLASSICAL MAINSTAGE PRODUCTIONS: provided 5 mainstage in-person theatre productions and 3 virtual productions utilizing professional actors and artists from the region and across the country. JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH, (5 performances) [121 attendance], AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE, (5) [318], VOICES OF THE EIGHTH, Black History Celebration, (7) [1167] before we shut down for COVID. Re-openend in the fall with AN EVENING OF CHEKHOV COMEDY (8) [180], THE ZOO STORY (9) [183]. Virtual performances included TMI Improv (6) [124], JULIUS CAESAR GOES DIGITAL (12) [163], LAST LAUGHS OF 2020 (1) [88], Gamut Theatre Academy (9) [264]. TOTAL SHAKESPEARE/CLASSICAL MAINSTAGE: 62 performances, attendance: 2672 TOTAL
EDUCATION PROGRAMS: 13 different classes and camps year-round, plus 4 weeks of the Gamut Theatre Summer Academy to reach a total of 234 students and educators. Conducted 14 workshops in public and private schools. TOTAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS: 31 classes/workshops to reach 249 people
REPERTORY CHILDREN'S THEATRE (POPCORN HAT PLAYERS): Provided 17 quality, educational performances of 3 different plays for 285 children, parents, grandparents, students, and teachers at Gamut Theatre in downtown Harrisburg and through virtual performances. Productions included: WONDER TALES FROM AROUND THE WORLD, SLEEPING BEAUTY, and 3 BILLY GOATS GRUFF.
