Organizations Filed Purposes: GIRL SCOUTING BUILDS GIRLS OF COURAGE, CONFIDENCE, & CHARACTER WHO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE.

LIFE SKILLS GIRLS, NO MATTER WHERE AND HOW THEY PARTICIPATE, GET THE NECESSARY GUIDANCE FROM ADULT VOLUNTEERS AND STAFF TO DEVELOP LEADERSHIP SKILLS AND UNDERSTAND HOW THESE SKILLS CAN BE USED TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD AND THEIR FUTURE. AS PART OF THE PIVOT TO VIRTUAL, THE COUNCIL OFFERS A GIRL SCOUTS AT HOME FEATURE, WHICH COMPILED A NUMBER OF RESOURCES FOR GIRLS TO EXPLORE PROGRAMS ONLINE IN THE SAFETY OF THEIR HOME. THE PROJECTS INCLUDED CURRICULUM KITS, RESOURCES, AT-HOME BADGE-WORK, AWARDS AND ZOOM-RELATED ACTIVITIES SUCH AS CAREER CHATS AND LEADER MINGLE CHATS. THE COUNCIL ALSO PROVIDED AN EXTENSIVE LIST OF ONLINE RESOURCES FOR VOLUNTEERS, TROOP LEADERS, CAREGIVERS AND THE COMMUNITY. FOR THOSE TROOP LEADERS WHO DIDN'T FEEL SAFE SHOPPING IN STORES, COUNCIL CREATED PACKAGED BADGE KITS FOR LEADERS TO USE.

ENTREPRENEURSHIPCOUNCIL'S IN-PERSON COOKIE SALES WERE IMMEDIATELY HALTED IN THE SECOND WEEK OF MARCH BECAUSE OF THE PANDEMIC (AND AFTER 2 MILLION PACKAGES OF COOKIES WERE DROPPED OFF AT VARIOUS COUNCIL LOCATIONS). THE COUNCIL CONNECTED WITH DIFFERENT BUSINESSES TO OFFER DISCOUNTED PRICING FOR COOKIE CASES AS WELL AS FINDING POINT-OF-SALE OPPORTUNITIES FOR BUSINESSES TO SELL COOKIES ON BEHALF OF A LOCAL TROOP.TAPPING INTO THEIR ENTREPRENEUR SPIRIT, THE GIRL SCOUTS AND VOLUNTEERS ALSO FOUND EFFECTIVE CREATIVE WAYS TO REACH THEIR MARKETS VIA SOCIAL MEDIA AND OTHER ONLINE EXPERIENCES.THE PRODUCT PROGRAM TEAM ALSO WORKED WITH GIRL SCOUTS AND VOLUNTEERS TO OFFER ADDITIONAL PROGRAM ACTIVITIES, MANY OF WHICH INCLUDED VIRTUAL COMPONENTS.

OUTDOOR PROGRAMA KEY PATHWAY FOR PARTICIPATION IN GIRL SCOUTING IS THROUGH OUTDOOR PROGRAM ACTIVITIES. THESE EXPERIENCES CAN BE OFFERED AT THE COUNCIL OPERATED CAMP FACILITIES AND STAFF, OFFSITE WITH APPROVED PROGRAM PARTNERS, OR THROUGH OTHER PLATFORMS SUCH AS DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL. GIRLS CAN CHOOSE FROM DIFFERENT THEMES AND FOCUS AREAS, INCLUDING ENVIRONMENTAL OR OUTDOOR EDUCATION.WHEN COVID HALTED SUCH ACTIVITIES IN MARCH 2020, OUTDOOR AND PROGRAM TEAMS LAUNCHED A SERIES OF VIRTUAL EXPERIENCES ALONGSIDE COMPLETELY NEW EVENTS SUCH AS VIRTUAL SUMMER CAMPS. THESE CAMPS INCLUDED LIVE, FACILITATED ZOOM ACTIVITIES THAT INTEGRATED AGE-LEVEL INTERACTIVE PROGRAMMING. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE VOLUNTEER-LED BACKPACKING TEAM, THE COUNCIL PRODUCED STAND-ALONE TRAINING VIDEOS AND DESIGNED A VIRTUAL INTRODUCTION TO BACKPACKING. IT WAS A PROGRAM THAT WAS SO SUCCESSFUL THAT ONLINE SESSIONS HAD WAITING LISTS.
