ENTERPRISE GROUP - VISIONCORPS ENTERPRISE GROUP PROVIDED 104,927 HOURS OF WORK TO EMPLOYEES WHO ARE BLIND. VISIONCORPS MISSION TO PROVIDE THE TOOLS FOR GREATER INDEPENDENCE IS PARTIALLY ACHIEVED BY PROVIDING EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE BLIND IN BOTH THEIR MANUFACTURING AS WELL AS SERVICES DIVISIONS. THE NATIONAL UNEMPLOYMENT RATE FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE BLIND IS 70% WHICH IS WHY, AT VISIONCORPS, PEOPLE WHO ARE BLIND ARE FIRST CONSIDERED FOR EMPLOYMENT FOR POSITIONS WHICH THEY ARE ACADEMICALLY OR VOCATIONALLY ABLE TO PERFORM AT THE HIGHEST STANDARDS. NO LESS THAN 75% OF DIRECT LABOR PERFORMED AT VISIONCORPS IS DONE BY EMPLOYEES WHO ARE BLIND. PROVIDING MEANINGFUL, WELL COMPENSATED EMPLOYMENT FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE BLIND IS A TOP PRIORITY AT VISIONCORPS.
REHABILITATION SERVICES - STATISTICS INDICATE THAT IN THE NEXT DECADE, THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO ARE BLIND IN THE US WILL DOUBLE. VISIONCORPS PARTICIPATES WITH MEDICARE BY USING AN OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST. OVERALL, VISIONCORPS SERVED 1,117 UNIQUE CLIENTS IN ITS MANY SERVICE AREAS, FOR A TOTAL OF 8,929 SERVICE HOURS. PREVENTATIVE SERVICES WERE ALSO PERFORMED, RESULTING IN THE SCREENING AND EDUCATION OF MORE THAN 7,189 INDIVIDUALS, BOTH CHILDREN AND ADULTS.
YOUTH SERVICES - IN A CONTINUED EFFORT TO PROVIDE THE MOST EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT SERVICES TO THEIR YOUNGEST CLIENTS, THE YOUTH PROGRAM PROVIDES FOCUSED ACTIVITIES FOR ALL STAGES OF DEVELOPMENT, WHILE ALSO OFFERING MORE AVENUES FOR INDEPENDENCE FOR CHILDREN AS THEY GROW AND TRANSITION TO VISIONCORPS ADULT SERVICES PROGRAM. ACTIVITES ALSO INCLUDE PARTICIPATION OF ALL FAMILY MEMBERS, AND SUPPORT FROM COMMUNITY PROFESSIONALS AND BUSINESSES. THIS FOCUS WAS IN RESPONSE TO THE RECOGNIZED CHANGING NEEDS OF VISIONCORPS YOUNGEST CLIENTS. THIS YEAR, 82 UNIQUE CHILDREN AND FAMILIES WERE PROVIDED WITH REHABILITATION SERVICE, FOR A TOTAL OF 1,826 HOURS.
