Organizations Filed Purposes: The Charlotte CPCU Society Chapter, Inc. is a community of credentialed property and casualty insurance professionals who promote excellence through ethical behavior and continuing education. The CPCU Society is committed to providing resources, educational programs and Charlotte CPCU Society Chapter, Inc. leadership opportunities that attract talent and enable individuals to expand their technical insurance skills and business capabilities in order to improve the overall performance of the insurance industry while adhering to the highest ethical standards.

Conferences and Membership Events - Throughout the year, the Chapter organizes a number of events designed to provide a platform for team-building, networking, and engaging our members and young generations. Some of the annual events include: Insurance Forum, CPCU Shadow Day, Golf Tournament, Knights game outing, and CPCU year-end annual meeting. While the Chapter strives to raise revenue during the sponsored events such as Insurance Forum and Golf Tournament, it is done with a goal of hosting the remainder of the events free of charge to our members, as well as providing annual scholarships to students at UNCC and ASU. $12,000 was awarded as part of our annual scholarship funds in 2020. Additionally, in August 2020, we donated $500 to each schools COVID related fund, to assist with the challenges of virtual learning.

Local Outreach - The Charlotte CPCU Chapter has a long and active history of supporting local community since its founding in 1962. The Chapter is led by a Board consisting of 18 members, all of whom volunteer their time out of dedication to our industry, employers, learning institutions, and to our community at large by mentoring, teaching and serving the needs of others. Some of the outreach events the Chapter participates in annually include: park and street clean-up projects, ALS Walk, and HopeMatch family sponsorship.

Education and Professional Development - The Chapter strives to provide a number of in person instructor-led courses throughout the year, taught by greatly qualified and experienced instructors with high exam passage rates. Additionally, each year, the Chapter is charged with providing 1-2 Continuing Education CE Courses covering relevant industry topics and trends. All educational events held by the Chapter are qualified for the CE credits towards the CPCU designation. In 2020, we were forced to cancel many of our planned events due to the pandemic and local restrictions on public gatherings. We were forced to shift our strategy to holding virtual webinars for our members. We held 3 virtual webinars in 2020 COVID and the Transportation Industry, NC Reinsurance Facility, Updates and Overview, and Nuclear Verdicts and Social Inflation. We were unable to secure CE accreditation for these webinars due to the tight turnaround, and separate CE accreditation requirements for webinars vs. in person events like we have held in the past.
