Gateway HorseWorks offers transformative Equine Assisted Psychotherapy Services to children, adults, and families in a healing, farm-based environment.
Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy & Learning programming for Youth - GHW provided EAP to youth in Chester & Delaware County. This included adolescents in residential treatment & child welfare programs, crime victims, as well as those on probation. GHW has established strong relationships with several area residential treatment centers and has demonstrated strong clinical outcomes. Working closely with the Chester County Juvenile Probation Department (JPO) and Children, Youth, & Family services, GHW provides innovative social-emotional learning programs for justice-involved and dependent youth. These programs guide youth through a process of transformative change that supports the capacity to make pro-social connections beyond the barn.
Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy Programming for adults - GHW works provided EAP to men & women in Chester and the surrounding counties. This includes men & women in residential treatment centers for drug and alcohol addiction, Veterans, human trafficking survivors, and men and women in pre-release from prison. GHW has established strong relations with several area residential treatment centers and has demonstrated strong clinical outcomes. We also work closely with referring local therapists and behavioral health organizations to provide individual, group, and family sessions targeting issues such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders, addiction, PTS(d), sexual trauma, and grief & bereavement. Our program helps clients see themselves, and their goals & challenges, through a new lens for many who often struggle to express themselves verbally.
Bereavement Support - GHW provides group programming for children, adults, and families coping with grief & bereavement in partnership with Penn Hospice. In 2019 we hosted families in the second and third year of grief from Penn Hospice for two family fun days. GHW was also contracted to bring horses to Camp Erin - an overnight camp which provides bereavement support for kids of all ages.
