The American Friends of the Spafford Children's Center raises funds to support a center which provides remedial education and social services to those in need.
The Spafford Children's Center (SCC) in East Jerusalem and the West Bank in 2020 requested $60,000.00 for one year to support their efforts to provide remedial education and child trauma therapy. Special focus is given to Early Childhood Development (ECD) assessments in the Jerusalem center. Developmental assessments are now conducted for 360 children ages 0-6 years old according to the UNICEF ECD methodology with tracking and scaling by ECD-trained staff. Ultimately it was determined $60,000 was not sufficient, and the AFSCC raised additional funds to cover the costs associated with operating a child welfare facility in the middle of a pandemic, which required some added support such as personal protective equipment.
