GREENER PARTNERS' MISSION IS TO CREATE HEALTHY COMMUNITIES THROUGH FOOD, FARMS, AND EDUCATION. WE ADDRESS BARRIERS TO HEALTHY EATING IN LOW-INCOME NEIGHBORHOODS THROUGH FRESH FOOD ACCESS, EDUCATION, AND GARDENING SUPPORT.

FOOD AS MEDICINE SUITE OF PROGRAMS:OUR HEALTHCARE PROGRAMS UTILIZE GARDENING, FOOD ACCESS, AND EDUCATION TO IMPROVE HEALTH. WE OPERATE DEAVER FARM, ONE OF THE NATION'S FIRST HOSPITAL-BASED FARMS, AT LANKENAU MEDICAL CENTER IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY. WE GROW 5,000 POUNDS OF PRODUCE ANNUALLY THAT IS DISTRIBUTED TO OVER 1,300 OF THE HOSPITAL'S NEEDIEST PATIENTS WHO HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED BY FOOD INSECURITY SCREENINGS. WE ALSO WORK IN HEALTH CLINICS IN WEST PHILADELPHIA, CHESTER, AND NORRISTOWN, OFFERING FREE PRODUCE AND NUTRITION EDUCATION AT APPOINTMENTS TO LINK DIET AND HEALTH.
FARM EXPLORER SUITE OF PROGRAMS:OUR SIGNATURE YOUTH INITIATIVE IS THE FARM EXPLORER, A MOBILE FARM AND FOOD EDUCATION PROGRAM THAT ENGAGES PEOPLE IN HANDS-ON DISCOVERY ABOUT HOW PRODUCE IS GROWN. LAUNCHED IN 2013, WE SERVE 8,000 PEOPLE ANNUALLY IN THE 5-COUNTY REGION, 80% OF WHOM QUALIFY FOR FREE OR REDUCED LUNCH. PARTICIPANTS HARVEST, COOK, AND TASTE SEASONAL VEGETABLES AND FRUITS - OFTEN FOR THE FIRST TIME. WITH MANY PARTNERS WE GO DEEPER, PROVIDING AFTER-SCHOOL AND GARDEN SUPPORT TO GIVE PEOPLE THE SKILLS TO GROW THEIR OWN FOOD AND ESTABLISH SUSTAINABLE SOURCES OF HEALTHY FOOD IN NEIGHBORHOODS WHERE IT IS LIMITED.
NORRISTOWN HEALTHY FOOD PROJECT (NHFP)80 PERCENT OF NORRISTOWN'S SCHOOL CHILDREN ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THE FEDERAL FREE/REDUCED LUNCH PROGRAM AND ACCESS TO FRESH PRODUCE IN MANY NEIGHBORHOODS IS LIMITED. THROUGH A UNIQUE SCHOOL-BASED FOOD DISTRIBUTION PROGRAM, WE PROVIDE FRESH FOOD AND BILINGUAL FOOD EDUCATION FOR OVER 225 FAMILIES WEEKLY. WE ALSO OFFER GARDEN TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO TEN NORRISTOWN SCHOOLS, HEALTH CLINICS, AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS WHOSE GARDENS NOW GROW HUNDREDS OF POUNDS OF FOOD FOR THE COMMUNITY. THE SUCCESS OF THE NHFP MODEL IS EMBLEMATIC OF THE WORK WE CAN FACILITATE IN THE BELMONT NEIGHBORHOOD OF WEST PHILADELPHIA.
