COMPETE 360 FOSTERS A DESIGN THINKING PRACTICE IN CITY SCHOOLS BY TRAINING TEACHERS, FACILITATING STUDENT-LED PROJECTS, AND HOSTING THE "DT PHILLY CHALLENGE", WHERE STUDENTS PRESENT THEIR WORK AND COMPETE FOR GRANTS TO SUPPORT THE EVOLUTION OF THEIR PROJECTS OR THE ADVANCEMENT OF THE PROGRAM IN THEIR SCHOOLS.
In the first half of 2019, Compete 360 worked with 45 student design teams from high-poverty K-12 schools, helping them address challenges such as how to avoid food waste at school, how to address student hunger during the school day and how to reduce episodes of bullying. In the second half of 2019, Compete 360 launched new K-12 programming, working with teachers at 15 area schools.
