CONGRESO'S MISSION IS TO ENABLE INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN PREDOMINANTLY LATINO NEIGHBORHOODS TO ACHIEVE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY AND WELL BEING.

THESE GOALS ARE SUPPORTED THROUGH AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMMING, ADULT EDUCATION AND DIGITAL LITERACY CLASSES, GED PREPARATION AND TESTING, INDUSTRY-RECOGNIZED CERTIFICATION CLASSES, JOB TRAINING, AND ASSOCIATE DEGREE PROGRAMS. FOR EXAMPLE, IN FISCAL YEAR 2020, CONGRESO HELPED 105 STUDENTS OBTAIN THEIR HIGH SCHOOL DEGREE AND 13 STUDENTS OBTAIN THEIR GED, HELPED 91 CLIENTS OBTAIN AN INDUSTRY-RECOGNIZED CERTIFICATION, AND HELPED 78 CLIENTS IN OBTAINING EMPLOYMENT.
FAMILY AND HOUSING SERVICES:CONGRESO'S FAMILY AND HOUSING SERVICES HELP PROMOTE HOUSEHOLD AND FAMILY STABILITY. PROGRAMS INCLUDE TRUANCY PREVENTION, HOUSING COUNSELING, HOMEOWNERSHIP WORKSHOPS, FINANCIAL LITERACY, TAX PREPARATION, FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES, AND PARENTING PROGRAMS. FOR EXAMPLE, IN FISCAL YEAR 2020, CONGRESO HELPED 55 CLIENTS BECOME NEW HOMEOWNERS, HELPED 42 CLIENTS AVOID FORECLOSURE, HELPED 178 CLIENTS INCREASE THEIR FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT KNOWLEDGE, AND HELPED 177 CLIENTS AVOID HOMELESSNESS.
HEALTH PROMOTION AND WELLNESS:CONGRESO'S HEALTH SERVICES PROMOTE INDIVIDUAL AND FAMILY WELL-BEING. PROGRAMS INCLUDE THE CONGRESO HEALTH CENTER, A FEDERALLY-QUALIFIED HEALTH CENTER FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS, LACTATION COUNSELING, HIV PREVENTION, TESTING, EARLY INTERVENTION, COUNSELING AND MEDICAL CASE MANAGEMENT, THE LATINA DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PROGRAM, AND EAST DIVISION CRIME VICTIM SERVICES. FOR EXAMPLE, IN FISCAL YEAR 2020, CONGRESO HELPED 198 CLIENTS OBTAIN ACCESS TO PRE-NATAL CARE AND HELPED 152 CLIENTS ACHIEVE GOOD ADHERENCE TO HIV TREATMENT.
