THE ED SNIDER YOUTH HOCKEY FOUNDATION'S MISSION IS TO BUILD LIVES AND UNITE COMMUNITIES. THE FOUNDATION USES THE SPORT OF HOCKEY TO EDUCATE YOUNG PEOPLE TO SUCCEED IN THE GAME OF LIFE.

AFTER SCHOOL EXCELLENCE PROGRAM (AESP) - PROVIDES UNDERPRIVILEGED AND ECONOMICALLY CHALLENGED CHILDREN WITH AN OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN TO PLAY HOCKEY AND TO PARTICIPATE IN YOUTH HOCKEY PROGRAMS IN AND AROUND THE PHILADELPHIA AREA THAT INCORPORATE A NATIONALLY ACCLAIMED LIFE SKILLS CURRICULUM AND SUPPLEMENTAL EDUCATIONAL INITIATIVES. ASEP ADDRESSES THE NEED FOR STRUCTURED PROGRAMMING DURING THE AFTER-SCHOOL HOURS WHEN CHILDREN ARE MOST VULNERABLE. ALL STUDENTS IN ASEP PARTICIPATE FREE OF CHARGE. CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O.AS A RESULT OF THE COVID-19 GLOBAL PANDEMIC, SNIDER HOCKEY PIVOTED ALL PROGRAMS FROM TRADITIONAL "IN PERSON" SESSIONS AT OUR NEIGHBORHOOD ICE RINKS TO VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING AND INITIATIVES DESIGNED TO PROVIDE BROAD-BASED COMMUNITY SUPPORT - REACHING HUNDREDS OF FAMILIES WHOSE LIVES WERE AFFECTED BY FOOD SHORTAGES AND LACK OF ESSENTIAL SERVICES. FROM MARCH 24 TO JUNE 30, 2020, SNIDER HOCKEY OFFERED VIRTUAL HOCKEY TRAINING, EDUCATIONAL SERVICES, FAMILY SUPPORT SESSIONS, AS WELL AS MEAL AND BOOK GIVEAWAYS TO UNDER-RESOURCED CHILDREN, YOUTH, AND FAMILIES WITHIN THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA.SNIDER HOCKEY STUDENTS MAINTAINED A 99.5% GRADE-TO-GRADE PROMOTION RATE DURING THE 2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR; 75% OF STUDENTS EARN ALL A'S & B'S IN ANY GIVEN MARKING PERIOD; 77.34% OF STUDENTS READ AT OR ABOVE GRADE LEVEL. FROM MARCH 24 TO JUNE 30, 2020, SNIDER HOCKEY HOSTED 583 VIRTUAL HOCKEY AND LIFE SKILLS SESSIONS AND DELIVERED 3,240 DIRECT VIRTUAL EDUCATIONAL SERVICES.
TEAMS - EACH RINK WHERE THE ED SNIDER YOUTH HOCKEY FOUNDATION OPERATES FIELDS TEAMS IN VARIOUS AGE GROUPS, AND THE TEAMS COMPETE AGAINST EACH OTHER THROUGH OUR INTER-RINK LEAGUE. THE FOUNDATION'S MOST TALENTED PLAYERS IN EACH AGE GROUP PLAY ON OUR ALL-CITY SELECT TEAM, WHERE THEY ARE ABLE TO TRAVEL AND COMPETE AGAINST OTHER LOCAL PROGRAMS.ACROSS ALL LEVELS, SNIDER HOCKEY ATHLETES COMPLETED OVER 38,000 ICE TOUCHES IN THE 2019-2020 SEASON. SNIDER HOCKEY TRAVEL TEAMS NETTED A TOTAL OF 2,222 GOALS. EACH TEAM PARTICPATES IN APPROXIMATELY 20 LEAGUE GAMES AS WELL AS COMPETITIVE TOURNAMENTS.
CAMDEN/ASTON - AFTER SCHOOL AND SCHOOL DAY PROGRAMS ARE OFFERED AT NO COST TO CITY OF CAMDEN RESIDENTS AND CHILDREN FROM THE CHESTER/UPLAND SCHOOL DISTRICT. PARTICIPATING STUDENTS ARE TRANSPORTED TO A RINK FOR A ONE-HOUR ON-ICE SESSION FOCUSING ON BASIC ELEMENTS OF SKATING AND ICE HOCKEY. THE PROGRAM, PROVIDED AT NO COST TO STUDENTS AND SCHOOLS, COMBINES ICE HOCKEY TRAINING WITH CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT AND LIFE SKILLS LESSONS. IN ADDITION, THE PROGRAM PROVIDES UNDERPRIVILEGED AND ECONOMICALLY CHALLENGED CHILDREN WITH AN OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN TO PLAY HOCKEY AND TO PARTICIPATE IN YOUTH HOCKEY PROGRAMS THAT INCORPORATE A NATIONALLY ACCLAIMED LIFE SKILLS CURRICULUM AND SUPPLEMENTAL EDUCATIONAL INITIATIVES. CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O.THIS PROGRAM ADDRESSES THE NEED FOR STRUCTURED PROGRAMMING DURING THE AFTER-SCHOOL HOURS WHEN CHILDREN ARE MOST VULNERABLE. PENNSAUKEN HAD THE HIGHEST ICE TOUCH AVERAGE PER STUDENT DURING THE 2019-2020 SEASON.
