WE BELIEVE EVERY COMMUNITY HAS THE RIGHT TO TRANSFORMATIVE SERVICES, SAFE SPACES AND THE RESOURCES NEEDED TO REACH OUR FULL HUMAN POTENTIAL. WE BUILD THE POWER OF OUR BLACK AND BROWN YOUTH TO HEAL FROM TRAUMA, OWN THEIR NARRATIVE AND MONETIZE THEIR CREATIVITY.

ADVANCE RACIAL EQUITY

THE EQUITY PROJECT OFFERED INNOVATIVE AND ADAPTIVE PROGRAMS RESPONSIVE TO OUR YOUTH'S UNIQUE NEEDS. UTILIZING TRAUMA-INFORMED BEST PRACTICES, WE MEET OUR YOUTH WHERE THEY ARE AND OFFER HOLISTIC SUPPORT THAT ADDRESSES THE PERSONAL, FINANCIAL, FAMILIAL, AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CONSEQUENCES THAT FLOW FROM TRAUMA. SERVICES WERE PROVIDED TO OVER 100 OF KENSINGTON'S YOUTH AND INCLUDED AFTER-SCHOOL AND WEEKEND PROGRAMMING, FREE WIFI AND COMPUTER LAB, COMMUNITY BEAUTIFICATION PROJECTS, ADVOCACY TRAINING, SUMMER WORK EXPERIENCE, CASE MANAGEMENT AND ACCESS TO THE ARTS, MUSIC AND TECHNOLOGY. SEE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON SCHEDULE O.OUR YOUTH ALSO ENRICHED OUR COMMUNITY BY TAKING OVER A VACANT LOT AT MCPHERSON SQUARE PARK IN PHILADELPHIA AND TURNING IT INTO A MEMORIAL TO BLACK LIVES LOST TO POLICE VIOLENCE WHICH FEATURED AN ORGANIC VEGETABLE AND HERB GARDEN THAT BEAUTIFIED THE AREA AND FED OUR NEIGHBORS THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER. EQUITY WORKS - IN SUPPORT OF PHILADELPHIA'S MOST VULNERABLE FAMILIES, EQUITY WORKS INCUBATED GROUND-BREAKING COLLABORATIVES, HUMAN-CENTERED SERVICES AND CUTTING-EDGE BEST PRACTICES DESIGNED TO COORDINATE AND STRENGTHEN EMPLOYMENT, HOUSING AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES FOR FAMILIES IN THE EARN PROGRAM. THE PROGRAM WAS HOUSED IN A SPACE DESIGNED USING BIOPHILIC AND TRAUMA-INFORMED ARCHITECTURAL PRINCIPLES THAT INSPIRED AND WELCOMED THE WHOLE FAMILY. THE EQUITY PROJECT WORKED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH PHILADELPHIA'S OFFICE OF HOMELESS SERVICES, PHILADELPHIA LAWYERS FOR SOCIAL EQUITY, PHILADELPHIA COUNTY ASSISTANCE OFFICE AND PHILADELPHIA'S DEPARTMENT OF BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND INTELLECTUAL DISABILITY SERVICES TO MAP AND FACILITATE INTEGRATION OF INTERVENTIONS ACROSS AGENCIES TO BETTER SERVE OUR FAMILIES. UNDER THE DIRECTION OF A LICENSED SOCIAL WORKER, A CULTURALLY SENSITIVE AND TRAUMA-INFORMED CURRICULUM WAS CREATED FEATURING DAILY WORKSHOPS AND PROGRAMMING THAT ENHANCED OUR MEMBERS' JOB SKILLS, RESILIENCY, AND FAMILY WELL-BEING.
