RESIDENTIAL - SEE DESCRIPTION ON SCHEDULE ORESIDENTIAL: THESE PROGRAMS PROVIDE A RANGE OF RESIDENTIAL AND CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES, DESIGNED TO OPTIMIZE INDEPENDENCE AND DIGNITY. THESE PROGRAMS ARE ALTERNATIVES TO MORE COSTLY AND MORE RESTRICTIVE INSTITUTIONAL SETTINGS. SERVICE COORDINATION AND RELATED SERVICES ARE PROVIDED TO HELP INDIVIDUALS WITH PHYSICAL DISABILITIES REMAIN INDEPENDENT AND IN THEIR OWN HOMES. PERSON-CENTERED, COMMUNITY-BASED RESIDENTIAL AND DAY PROGRAM OPTIONS ARE OFFERED FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES AND CHRONIC MENTAL ILLNESS. RESIDENTIAL OPTIONS INCLUDE COMMUNITY LIVING ARRANGEMENTS (2 TO 3 PERSON HOMES), IN-HOME SUPPORTS, SUPPORTED INDEPENDENT LIVING AND LIFE SHARING. LIFE SHARING, A SERVICE SIMILAR TO FOSTER CARE, PROVIDES A PERMANENT OPPORTUNITY FOR INDIVIDUALS TO SHARE A HOME WITH A PROVIDER FAMILY. OUR DAY PROGRAMS PROVIDING ENRICHING, COMMUNITY INTEGRATED SOCIAL AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES. THESE PROGRAMS SERVED 6,440 INDIVIDUALS THIS YEAR.WITH THE ADVENT OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, JEVS ADOPTED PROTOCOLS FOR EMPLOYEE AND CLIENT SAFETY AND DISTRIBUTED PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) TO ITS STAFF AND RESIDENTS. JEVS MAINTAINED PROGRAM OPERATIONS FOR ITS RESIDENTIAL SERVICES THROUGH THE PANDEMIC. THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC REQUIRED NON-RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMS TO TRANSITION TO REMOTE AND VIRTUAL SERVICES. JEVS UTILIZED PHONE AND VIDEO CONFERENCING TO SUPPORT TELEHEALTH AND REMOTE COUNSELING STRATEGIES.
EMPLOYMENT AND COUNSELING SERVICES - SEE DESCRIPTION ON SCHEDULE OEMPLOYMENT AND COUNSELING SERVICES:SERVICES INCLUDE EMPLOYMENT COUNSELING, ENGLISH LANGUAGE TRAINING, ASSESSMENT, JOB PLACEMENT, JOB COACHING, VOCATIONAL EVALUATION AND CASE MANAGEMENT FOR THE UNEMPLOYED AND UNDEREMPLOYED. THE INDIVIDUALS WE SERVE ARE SEEKING SUPPORT AT PIVOTAL POINTS IN THEIR LIVES INCLUDING THOSE TRANSITIONING FROM WELFARE-TO-WORK, REFUGEES, RETURNING CITIZENS, SENIORS, INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES, AND OTHERS WHO ARE ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED, INCLUDING THOSE ADVERSELY IMPACTED BY THE DOWNTURN IN THE ECONOMY. FOR MANY SERVED IN THESE PROGRAMS, THESE ACTIVITIES ARE THE FIRST STEP TO ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY. THESE PROGRAMS SERVED 14,078 INDIVIDUALS THIS YEAR.THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC AND ASSOCIATED SHUTDOWN REQUIRED THE AGENCY TO TRANSITION MOST SERVICES IN THESE AREAS TO REMOTE AND VIRTUAL DELIVERY. JEVS MAINTAINED PROGRAM OPERATIONS FOR ALL BUT A HANDFUL OF SERVICES AND USED TELEPHONE AND VIDEO CONFERENCING TO CONTINUE THE WORK OF THE AGENCY.

PARTICIPANTS IN THESE PROGRAMS INCLUDE ADULTS TRANSITIONING FROM WELFARE-TO-WORK, INCARCERATED PERSONS PREPARING FOR LIFE AFTER JAIL, AND OTHER POPULATIONS SEEKING ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY AND CAREER ADVANCEMENT. FOR MANY OF THE INDIVIDUALS SERVED IN THESE PROGRAMS, THESE OPPORTUNITIES ARE THE FIRST STEP TOWARDS CAREER SUCCESS. THESE PROGRAMS SERVED 491 INDIVIDUALS THIS YEAR.THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC AND PUBLIC HEALTH SHUT-DOWN ORDERS REQUIRED JEVS TO DISCONTINUE IN-PERSON INSTRUCTION.
