Organizations Filed Purposes: MURAL ARTS AND EDUCATION - THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA MURAL ARTS PROGRAM UNITES ARTISTS AND COMMUNITIES THROUGH A COLLABORATIVE PROCESS ROOTED IN THE TRADITIONS OF MURAL MAKING, TO CREATE ART THAT TRANSFORMS PUBLIC SPACES AND INDIVIDUAL LIVES.

RESTORATIVE JUSTICE THE RESTORATIVE JUSTICE PROGRAM FACILITATES THE FORGING AND GROWTH OF STRONG, POSITIVE BONDS BETWEEN INCARCERATED AND FORMERLY INCARCERATED INDIVIDUALS, YOUNG ADULTS ON PROBATION, AND THEIR RESPECTIVE COMMUNITIES. THROUGH NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS, CURRENT INMATES, PROBATIONERS, AND PAROLEES ARE CONNECTED TO OPPORTUNITIES TO LEARN NEW SKILLS AND MAKE POSITIVE CONTRIBUTIONS TO COMMUNITIES IMPACTED BY CRIME. PARTICIPANTS RECEIVE ART INSTRUCTION, WORK ON NEW MURALS, AND PERFORM OTHER COMMUNITY SERVICE WORK, HELPING TO SHIFT COMMUNITY PERCEPTIONS THROUGH THESE CONSTRUCTIVE CONTRIBUTIONS. IN FY20, THE RESTORATIVE JUSTICE PROGRAM ENROLLED 77 PEOPLE IN RE-ENTRY PROGRAMS, 11 PEOPLE IN PRISON PROGRAMS, AND MORE THAN 2,000 PEOPLE AT PUBLIC EVENTS. ONE-YEAR RECIDIVISM AVERAGE = 8% (ONE-YEAR RECIDIVISM RATE ACROSS THE STATE HOVERS AROUND 35%). ONE-YEAR JOB PLACEMENT AVERAGE = 82%.

ART EDUCATION - IN FY20, MURAL ARTS DELIVERED AFTER-SCHOOL, IN SCHOOL, AND SUMMER PROGRAMS FOR YOUTH IN COLLABORATION WITH PARTNER SITES, INCLUDING COMMUNITY AND RECREATION CENTERS, SCHOOLS, AND YOUTH SERVICES CENTERS. THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC POSED UNIQUE CHALLENGES WHICH WERE OVERCOME BY LEVERAGING TECHNOLOGY TO DELIVER PROGRAMMING REMOTLEY. TOTAL ENROLLMENT FOR ALL TRACKS WAS APPROXIMATELY 2,000. EVERY STUDENT HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN ART PROJECTS THAT STEMMED FROM IDEAS VOICED BY YOUTH IN THE PROGRAM, OPPORTUNITIES BROUGHT TO US BY YOUTH-SERVING PARTNERS, ISSUES OF RELEVANCE TO YOUNG PEOPLE, AND ASSETS VALUED BY YOUTH CULTURE.

PORCH LIGHT - THE PORCH LIGHT PROGRAM OFFERS A ROBUST, ARTS-BASED APPROACH TO COMMUNITY WELLNESS THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS WITH A VARIETY OF PUBLIC CLINICS AND SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES THROUGHOUT PHILADELPHIA. IN FY20, THE PROGRAM ENGAGED MORE THAN 600 PEOPLE VISITING OR RECEIVING SERVICES AT PORCH LIGHT SITES. THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC PRESENT MANY CHALLENGES TO THE PORCH LIGHT PROGRAMS WORK, HOWEVER THE PROGRAM WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE BY LEVERAGING TECHOLOGY TO DELIVER VIRTUAL EXPERIENCES TO PARTICIPANTS AND BY CREATING TOLL THAT COULD BE USED BY PEOPLE IN THE SAFTY OF THEIR HOME OR OTHER SHELTER.
