TUNE UP PHILLY OFFERS A DIFFERENTIATED MUSICAL CURRICULM THAT WAS CREATED TO MEET THE SPECIFIC NEEDS OF STUDENTS LIVING IN CHALLENGING SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC CONDITIONS, WITH A FOCUS ON EFFECTING MEANINGFUL COMMUNITY CHANGE. THE PROGRAM OFFERS CHILDREN IN UNDERPRIVILEGED COMMUNITIES AN OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN AND PERFORM ORCHESTRAL MUSIC AND MAKE A TRUE DIFFERENCE WITHIN THEIR COMMUNITIES, BOTH THROUGH THE USE OF MUSIC AND THROUGH A PURPOSEFUL CONNECTION WITH OTHERS.

THE PHILADELPHIA YOUTH ORCHESTRA USES EXTRAORDINARY MUSIC EDUCATION THROUGH THE PURSUIT OF MUSIC EXCELLENCE TO INSPIRE A STRONG SENSE OF CHARACTER, DISCIPLINE, COMMITMENT, AND COMMUNITY FOR OUR DIVERSE STUDENT POPULATION.

THE PROGRAMS OF THE PYO PROVIDE MUSIC EDUCATION AND PERFORMANCE OPPOPTUNITIES TO STUDENTS IN THE GREATER PHILADELPHIA REGION IN THE FISCAL YEAR 2019-2020, THE PYO HAD THE FOLLOWING PROGRAM ACTIVITIES: PHILADELPHIA YOUTH ORCHESTRA (128 STUDENTS) PHILADELPHIA YOUNG ARTISTS ORCHESTRA (100 STUDENTS) YOUNG MUSICIANS DEBUT ORCHESTRA (69 STUDENTS) BRAVO BRASS (27 STUDENTS) PHILADELPHIA REGION YOUTH PRYSIM STRINGS (46 STUDENTS) THE PYO 2019-2020 PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE CONSISTED OF 3 PYAO CONCERTS, 2 PRYSIM CONCERTS, 2 BRASS CONCERTS, AND 2 YMO CONCERTS. IN ORDER TO ATTRACT AND RETAIN THE BEST STUDENT MUSICIANS, PYO OFFERS A TUITION FINANCIAL AID PROGRAM TO STUDENTS THAT DEMONSTRATE TALENT, BUT DO NOT HAVE THE FINANCIAL WHEREWITHAL TO PAY THE FULL TUITION. IN 2019-2020, THE ORCHESTRA PROVIDED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IN THE AMOUNT OF $99,320.

IN THE FISCAL YEAR 2019-2020, TUNE UP PHILLY HAD 200 STUDENTS. THE TUNE UP PHILLY 2019-2020 PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE CONSISTED OF 4 CONCERTS. TUNE UP PHILLY STUDENTS RECEIVE FULL TUITION FINANCIAL AID.

THE ORCHESTRA IS REGISTERED AS AN EDUCATIONAL IMPROVEMENT ORGANIZATION AND AN OPPORTUNITY SCHOLARSHIP TAX CREDIT (OSTC) AGENCY UNDER THE COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA'S EDUCATIONAL IMPROVEMENT TAX CREDIT (EITC) PROGRAM. THE ORCHESTRA PROVIDED 28 OSTC SCHOLARSHIPS UNDER THIS PROGRAM IN THE FISCAL YEAR 2019-2020.
