THIS IMPORTANT DISTINCTION CONFIRMS THAT OUR OPERATIONS ARE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE HIGHEST STANDARDS IN LAND CONSERVATION AND NONPROFIT MANAGEMENT. FRENCH & PICKERING HAS PROTECTED OVER 12,500 ACRES OF LANDS THROUGH PUBLIC/PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS, DONATIONS, AND PURCHASES OF FEE LANDS AND CONSERVATION EASEMENTS.

TO PRESERVE, STEWARD, AND CONNECT PEOPLE TO THE LAND IN NORTHERN CHESTER COUNTY PENNSYLVANIA

FRENCH AND PICKERING CREEKS CONSERVATION TRUST HAS WORKED WITH LANDOWNERS, AS WELL AS PUBLIC AND PRIVATE PARTNERS, TO PRESERVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE AND THE ENVIRONMENT OF NORTHERN CHESTER COUNTY. SINCE 1974, FRENCH AND PICKERING HAS PERMANENTLY PROTECTED APPROXIMATELY 6,428 ACRES THROUGH 176 CONSERVATION EASEMENTS AND 27 PARCELS, TOTALING 890 ACRES HELD IN FEE SIMPLE OWNERSHIP. ALL LANDS ARE MONITORED ANNUALLY IN PERSON BY FRENCH AND PICKERING STAFF TO ASSIST LANDOWNERS WITH THEIR LAND MANAGEMENT AND NATURAL RESOURCE STEWARDSHIP. WITHIN THESE TOTALS ARE THE 3 EASEMENTS AND CORRESPONDING 133 ACRES OF LAND PERMANENTLY PRESERVED IN 2018. FRENCH AND PICKERING ALSO HAS PROTECTED 27 PARCELS, TOTALING 900 ACRES IN FEE SIMPLE OWNERSHIP. SEE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON SCHEDULE O.FRENCH AND PICKERING CREEKS CONSERVATION TRUST IS ALSO RESPONSIBLE FOR PURCHASING AND THEN TRANSFERRING THOUSANDS OF ACRES TO VARIOUS GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES OWNING AND MANAGING NATURAL LANDS IN NORTHERN CHESTER COUNTY SUCH AS FRENCH CREEK STATE PARK, STATE GAME LANDS #43 AND CHESTER COUNTY'S WARWICK COUNTY PARK. IN 2018 THE FOLLOWING THREE CONSERVATION EASEMENT PROJECTS WERE COMPLETED:1) A ONE TIME SITE OF A PROPOSED 50 LOT SUBDIVISION, APPROXIMATELY 118 ACRES OF HIGHLY DEVELOPABLE FARM FIELDS, HEDGEROWS AND A 2 ACRE POND WERE PRESERVED IN CHARLESTOWN TOWNSHIP WITH ONLY ONE ADDITIONAL BUILDING RIGHT.2) A FOUR-ACRE HILLSIDE IN SCHUYLKILL TOWNSHIP WAS PERMANENTLY PRESERVED IN ITS WOODED STATE TO MAINTAIN ITS CRITICAL NATURE ROLE MINIMIZING STORMWATER RUNOFF AND PROVIDING REFUGE FOR PLANTS AND ANIMALS.3) FRENCH AND PICKERING WORKED WITH THE OWNERS OF TEN FORESTED ACRES IN WEST VINCENT TOWNSHIP ON A TEN-ACRE CONSERVATION EASEMENT. THIS EASEMENT WAS DONATED TO FRENCH AND PICKERING ENSURING THAT THIS AREA WILL CONTINUE TO STORE CARBON, CLEAN OUR AIR AND WATER BY PERMANENTLY REMAINING IN ITS NATURAL STATE.2018 INVOLVED SIGNIFICANT DONATED LAND VALUE COUNTED AS REVENUE AS WELL AS PUBLIC GRANTS FOR THE THREE PROJECTS ABOVE. THESE FUNDS REIMBURSED EXPENSES AS NEEDED TO COMPLETE THE AFORMENTIONED TRANSACTIONS.
