FRENCH & PICKERING HAS PROTECTED OVER 12,500 ACRES OF LANDS THROUGH PUBLIC/PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS, DONATIONS, AND PURCHASES OF FEE LANDS AND CONSERVATION EASEMENTS.

FRENCH AND PICKERING CREEKS CONSERVATION TRUST HAS WORKED WITH LANDOWNERS, PUBLIC AND PRIVATE PARTNERS, TO PRESERVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE AND THE ENVIRONMENT OF NORTHERN CHESTER COUNTY. SINCE 1974 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2019, FRENCH & PICKERING HAS PERMANENTLY PROTECTED APPROXIMATELY 6,499 ACRES THROUGH 179 CONSERVATION EASEMENTS, AND HAS PRESERVED AN ADDITIONAL 28 PARCELS, TOTALING 900 ACRES THROUGH FEE SIMPLE OWNERSHIP. ALL LANDS ARE MONITORED ANNUALLY BY FRENCH & PICKERING STAFF TO ASSIST LANDOWNERS WITH THEIR LAND MANAGEMENT AND NATURAL RESOURCE STEWARDSHIP. IN 2019, WE COMPLETED 3 EASEMENTS TOTALING 71 ACRES AND AQUIRED ONE 10 ACRE FEE SIMPLE PARCEL OF LAND IN NORTHERN CHESTER COUNTY. SEE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON SCHEDULE O.FRENCH AND PICKERING CREEKS CONSERVATION TRUST IS ALSO RESPONSIBLE FOR PURCHASING AND THEN TRANSFERRING THOUSANDS OF ACRES TO VARIOUS GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES OWNING AND MANAGING NATURAL LANDS IN NORTHERN CHESTER COUNTY SUCH AS FRENCH CREEK STATE PARK, STATE GAME LANDS #43 AND CHESTER COUNTY'S WARWICK COUNTY PARK.IN 2019 THE FOLLOWING THREE CONSERVATION EASEMENT PROJECTS WERE COMPLETED:1) FRENCH AND PICKERING WORKED WITH NEW OWNERS TO UPDATE AND RESTATE THEIR EASEMENT THAT WAS OVER 30 YEARS OLD TO CURRENT STANDARDS, EXTINGUISHING A PERMITTED PRIMARY RESIDENCE AND ATTACHED APARTMENT BUILDING RIGHT, AND INCREASING THE SIZE OF THE AREA UNDER EASEMENT.2) A 23 ACRE EASEMENT PERMANENTLY PRESERVED A FAMILY FARM IN CHARLESTOWN TOWNSHIP. LOCATED ALONG A FIRST-ORDER TRIBUTARY TO PICKERING CREEK, IT PROTECTS WATER QUALITY AND VIEWS FROM THE ADJACENT PUBLIC ROAD. 3) A 10 ACRE EASEMENT IN CHARLESTOWN TOWNSHIP NOW PROTECTS LUSH, ROLLING FIELDS AND HELPS MAINTAIN WATER QUALITY IN THE BUCKWALETER RUN STREAM CORRIDOR.2019 INVOLVED SIGNIFICANT DONATED LAND VALUE COUNTED AS REVENUE AS WELL AS PUBLIC GRANTS FOR THE THREE PROJECTS ABOVE. THESE FUNDS REIMBURSED EXPENSES AS NEEDED TO COMPLETE THE AFOREMENTIONED TRANSACTIONS.
