FROM OUR EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAM THROUGH MIDDLE SCHOOL, WE INSPIRE OUR STUDENTS TO LOVE LEARNING THROUGH INNOVATIVE TEACHING METHODS AND HANDS-ON DISCOVERY. CDS IS A WELCOMING COMMUNITY WHERE PITTSBURGH FAMILIES WHO SPAN THE SPECTURM OF JEWISH BELIEF AND PRACTICE CAN LEARN AND CONNECT ALONG WITH THEIR CHILDREN. AS OUR STUDENTS GROW IN KNOWLEDGE FROM PRESCHOOL THROUGH 8TH GRADE, THEY GROW AS PEOPLE - FINDING THIER PASSIONS, EMBRACING THEIR JEWISH IDENTITIES, AND PREPARING FOR SUCCESSFUL AND MEANINGFUL LIVES. THERE WERE 277 STUDENTS ENROLLED DURING THE 2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR IN EARLY CHILDHOOD THROUGH GRADE 8.THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC DISRUPTED CAMPUS OPERATIONS BY SIGNIFICANTLY CHANGING THE DELIVERY OF INSTRUCTION TO STUDENTS. DUE TO THE IMPACT OF COVID-19, COMMUNITY DAY SCHOOL APPLIED FOR A PAYCHECK PROTECTION PROGRAM (PPP) LOAN WITH KEYBANK IN THE AMOUNT OF $791,800, GRANTED BY THE SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION UNDER THE CORONAVIRUS AID, RELIEF AND ECONOMIC SECURITY ACT (CARES ACT), THAT IS REFLECTED AS REVENUE AS OF JUNE 30, 2020. UNDER PROGRAM TERMS, PPP LOANS ARE FORGIVEN AND RECOGNIZED AS GRANT REVENUE IF THE LOAN PROCEEDS ARE USED TO MAINTAIN COMPENSATION COSTS AND EMPLOYEE HEADCOUNT AND OTHER QUALIFYING EXPENSES (MORTGAGE INTEREST, RENT AND UTILITIES) INCURRED FOLLOWING RECEIPT OF THE LOAN. COMMUNITY DAY SCHOOL HAS DETERMINED THAT IT WILL MEET THE CRITERIA FOR FORGIVENESS AND THE FULL AMOUNT OF THE LOAN WAS FORGIVEN ON NOVEMBER 3, 2020, THEREFORE COMMUNITY DAY SCHOOL HAS INCLUDED $791,800 AS GOVERNMENT GRANT REVENUE FOR THE YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2020.
