Education in the safe sporting use of firearms, competitive marksmanship, and archery

Promotion of firearms safety and education. The Club provides safety training for all participants in its Civilian Marksmanship Matches, and promotes safety in its news letters, during its monthly membership meetings, and discusses safety issues at all of its Board Meetings. The Board continuously reviews potential safety matters and makes appropriate changes to its facilities as required. The Club provides random safety training and reviews for approximately 200 members per year in rifle and pistol disciplines. During the year, the Club did admit new members using updated safety training protocols for new members. The Club continues to revise training protocols for its ranges and facilities.

Providing youth rifle marksmanship training. On an annual basis, we provide a seven week program (one night per week) for basic rifle marksmanship training for youth age twelve and over. This program is taught by three NRA certified instructors using NRA training materials. Thereafter, there is a ten week (one night per week) practice session to allow the students to work on their marksmanship skills. This program has been held for the last thirty-two years and has an average of fifteen students per year.

Support of middle school and high school rifle teams. The Club provides certified instructors and coaches free of charge to one high school rifle team and provides our facility for holding regional rifle championships for the Western PA Interscholastic Athletic League. We host twelve to fourteen high school teams per year at two events. We host several Boy Scout groups who use our facilities for their youth rifle marksmanship training. Approximately twenty-five to thirty youth per year benefit from this program. We also host the Washington County High School Environmental Program in which approximately 75 students participate. This program is held twice a year.
