Organizations Filed Purposes:
To encourage the planting of 18 billion edible fruit trees under organic, humane standards. To benefit the environment, human health, and animal welfare by strategically planting fruit and nut tree orchards where they will best serve communities for decades to follow. This includes planting any edible, medicinal, or environmentally beneficial trees or plants.
FTPF provides environmental and nutritional benefits through a diverse set of programs, each described in greater detail below. In total, for 2019, FTPF had the following results: Planted and distributed 80,588 fruit trees and shrubs to improve nutrition and the environment (80,536 trees and 52 shrubs)Created 216 orchards and tree distribution events worldwide to activate healthy communitiesTrained 5,250 volunteers during FTPF events on how to plant trees in their region Provided education and environmental curriculum for 2,645 students to inspire the next generation of environmentalistsProvided advanced workshops for 2,605 orchard caretakers to ensure tree survivalTrees planted in this years programs, when fully mature, will on average create 12.5 million pounds of oxygen, sequester 15.9 million pounds of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, filter 483,000 pounds of solid pollutants from the air, and produce 3.5 million pounds of fruiteach year!
FRUIT RELIEF PROGRAM ($94,553)FTPFs Fruit Relief program involves strategically planting fruit trees where the harvest will most benefit poverty-stricken communitiesin low-income neighborhoods and international hunger relief sitesand distributing fruit trees directly to families in need to provide a source of nutrition in their backyards for decades to follow. Educational programs on fruit tree care are also provided at various workshops and distribution events. As a result of such orchard donations, life-saving sustenance is provided and local volunteers, many of whom are in difficult situations themselves, are empowered to take action for their environment.
FRUITFUL COMMUNITIES ($66,864)This program involves working with communities, nonprofits such as food banks, and public parks across the country to create community orchards, which provide a long-term source of nutrition for the neighborhood.
CONSERVATION & NURSERIES ($33,236)In order to conserve valuable land resources on the planet and create fruit tree forests and tree farms for the benefit of communities, FTPF preserves lands it has acquired and the fruit trees within them. At its Na Piko property, FTPF is setting up a world-class eco-friendly demonstration site to inspire visitors and support its regional programs.
