HEAVEN'S FAMILY'S MISSION IS TO ADVANCE THE KINGDOM OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. WE DO THAT BY STRATEGICALLY LINKING KINGDOM NEEDS AND OPPORTUNITIES WITH RESOURCES THAT THE LORD HAS ENTRUSTED TO THOSE WHO LOVE HIM. THROUGH GOD-GIVEN PARTNERSHIPS, HEAVEN'S FAMILY INVESTS IN REACHING THE UNREACHED WITH THE GOSPEL, DISCIPLING CHRIST'S FOLLOWERS, AND SERVING THE SUFFERING- PARTICULARLY THOSE WHOM HE REFERRED TO AS THE "LEAST OF THESE" (MATT. 25:31-46; 28:19-20).
FIGHTING HUMAN TRAFFICKING & SLAVERY - HEAVEN'S FAMILY ADMINISTRATES 20 MAJOR PROGRAMS. IN 2019, THE HUMAN TRAFFICKING & SLAVERY MINISTRY ROSE IN PROMINENCE AND ATTRACTED ADDITIONAL FUNDING. HEAVEN'S FAMILY IS CURRENTLY FIGHTING THE PLAGUE OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND SLAVERY IN 7 COUNTRIES. SOMETIMES VICTIMS ARE TAKEN AGAINST THEIR WILL TO DIFFERENT COUNTRIES, BUT MOST REMAIN IN THEIR HOME COUNTRY AND EVEN WITHIN THEIR OWN VILLAGES. MANY ARE ALSO RENTED OUT AS SEX SLAVES BY THEIR OWN RELATIVES TO FUND ADDICTIONS TO ALCOHOL OR DRUGS. POVERTY AND IGNORANCE ARE MAJOR FACTORS THAT CAUSE WOMEN AND CHILDREN TO BE AT RISK AROUND THE WORLD. OUR PARTNERS ON THE GROUND WORK TO PREVENT TRAFFICKING THROUGH AWARENESS TRAINING AND BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS WITH AT-RISK POPULATIONS. LOCATIONS ARE ESTABLISHED WITHIN VERY POOR COMMUNITIES TO SERVE THE PEOPLE BY MEETING PRESSING NEEDS, PRESENTING THE GOSPEL, FEEDING THE HUNGRY, AND EDUCATION AND SOCIAL SERVICES, WHEN AVAILABLE, INCLUDING HELP TO ESTABLISH SMALL BUSINESSES TO FOSTER SELF-SUFFICIENCY THAT REDUCES VULNERABILITY. MOST OF OUR PARTNERS ALSO WORK TO RESCUE VICTIMS, RESTORE THEM TO HEALTH, AND PROVIDE THEM WITH EDUCATION, SKILLS TRAINING, AND THE GOSPEL. SOME OF OUR SUPPORTED PROGRAMS HELP RESCUED CHILDREN ALL THE WAY THROUGH COLLEGE EDUCATION. WE WORK TO EMPOWER INDIGENOUS PEOPLE GROUPS, SO THEY ARE EQUIPPED TO WAGE WAR ON THE PROBLEM OF TRAFFICKING WITHIN THEIR OWN COMMUNITIES AND GOVERNMENTS. LAST YEAR WE TRACKED 108 NEW RESCUES, HELPED 1,322 PEOPLE AND WITH DAILY NEEDS AS WELL AS OVER 8,000 WITH WEEKLY OUTREACH. TO FURTHER FOSTER PREVENTION, WE ALSO FED OVER 51,842 PEOPLE THROUGH PARTNER PROGRAMS DURING THE COURSE OF THE YEAR.
ORPHAN CARE - ANOTHER PROGRAM THAT ATTRACTS SIGNIFICANT FUNDING, IS OUR ORPHAN'S TEAR MINISTRY. WHEN WE DISCOVERED THAT MOST CHILDREN IN ORPHANAGES ARE NOT ACTUALLY ORPHANS BUT ARE SENT THERE BECAUSE THEIR PARENTS (DUE TO THEIR POVERTY AND LACK OF EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR THEIR CHILDREN) PLACE THEM THERE, WE BEGAN TO WORK TO (1) PREVENT THE FLOW OF NON-ORPHANED CHILDREN INTO ORPHANAGES, (2) HELP CHILDREN LIVING IN ORPHANAGES RETURN TO THEIR FAMILIES, AND (3) ELIMINATE HE CAUSES THAT MOTIVATE PARENTS TO SEND THEIR CHILDREN TO ORPHANAGES. IN 2019, THROUGH OUR PILOT CHILD/FAMILY REUNIFICATION PROGRAM IN MYANMAR, WE WERE ABLE TO PLACE 28 CHILDREN FROM ORPHANAGES INTO FAMILIES. THIS BRINGS THE TOTAL NUMBER OF CHILDREN PLACED WITH FAMILIES TO 45. BY BUILDING OUR SOCIAL WORK TEAM IN MYANMAR, WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO TRIPLE THE NUMBER OF INDIVIDUAL CHILDREN'S CASES TO 119 IN 2019. ADDITIONALLY, 3 ORPHANAGES THAT WERE NOT PROVIDING APPROPRIATE NURTURING OR SAFE CARE OR THE CHILDREN HAVE HAD THEIR FUNDING DRAMATICALLY REDUCED, WHICH WILL HELP PREVENT THEM FROM EXPLOITING MORE CHILDREN IN THE FUTURE. WE ALSO CONDUCTED OUR FIRST AWARENESS-RAISING SEMINARS IN 12 VILLAGES TO EDUCATE ABOUT THE RISKS FROM THE INSTITUTIONALIZED CARE OF CHILDREN.
RELIEF, DEVELOPMENT, EVANGELISM AND DISCIPLESHIP - THROUGH OUR OTHER 18 PROGRAMS WORKING IN MORE THAN 40 NATIONS, IN 2019 WE CONTINUED TO MEET THE PRESSING NEEDS OF WIDOWS, REFUGEES, PRISONERS, THE PERSECUTED, THE DISABLED, THE ILL, VICTIMS OF NATURAL DISASTERS AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING, THE SEXUALLY ABUSED, THE HUNGRY AND THE THIRSTY. WE ALSO SUPPORTED LOCAL MISSIONARIES AND WORKED TO "TEACH ALL NATIONS" BY CONDUCTING LEADERSHIP SEMINARS, PROVIDING BIBLES, AND OFFERING FREE BIBLICAL TEACHING THROUGH OUR DAVIDSERVANT.COM WEBSITE.
