Provide affordable and quality childcare to disadvantaged children ages 6 months to school age within the economically depressed areas in Allegheny County, specifically the Hill District, Pittsburgh, Pa.
Hug Me Tight cared for an average of 45-60 at risk children per month for fiscal year June 30, 2019. Care continued at the highest levels to include educational activities, nutritiousmeals, and partnerships with community resources focusing on improving quality of life for children and families associated with Hug Me Tight programming. With an ongoing focus on developing laguage and literacy growth, cognitive/problem solving skills, and pro-social/emotional abilities, programming provided by Jumpstart sponsored by the University of Pittsburgh, the Carnegie LIbrary, and Reading is Fundamental enhanced developmental potential of chidren enrolled at the Center. Implementation of a program designed and sponsored by Carlow University provided staff the opportunity to enhance professional development as early childhood practioners to earn college credit toward an academic degree.
