Organizations Filed Purposes: Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

The mission of Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia is to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. During the COVI-19 pandemic, Make-A-Wish put a moratorium on all travel-related wishes (which makes up approximately 75% of all wishes) in March 2020. While normally granting 600+ wishes, the chapter granted 361 wishes in the fiscal year ending August 31, 2020. Wishes included 158 wishes to Disney resorts,20 celebrity meetings,54 shopping sprees, 15 trips to Hawaii, 5 cruises and 19 swimming pools and playsets. Unique wishes include Ogden's wish to be a video game character, Kiley's wish to attend New York Fashion Week, Lillian's wish to give instruments to her high school band, Jayde's wish to photograph the Santa Monica pier, Mason's wish to outfit his garage with tools, Allison's wish for an art studio she-shed and Rainer's wish to stay in a houseboat on Lake Tahoe. Make-A-Wish of Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia has met or exceeded all benchmarks of excellence set forth by its national organization, Make-A-Wish America. These include liquidity, wish turnaround, cost per dollar raised and public support growth. The chapter has placed at the top of chapter performance for the last 10 years in its category (Large Chapters). Because of its management excellence, the chapter has been given five additional territories to manage by Make-A-Wish America, the first in 2000. The Chapter is now helping to plan and finance wishes at other chapters with large wish pipelines to help reduce the wait time for wish children and their families.
