THE PENNSYLVANIA ENVIRONMENTAL COUNCIL (PEC) PROTECTS AND RESTORES THE NATURAL AND BUILT ENVIRONMENTS THROUGH INNOVATION, COLLABORATION, EDUCATION, AND ADVOCACY. PEC BELIEVES IN THE VALUE OF PARTNERSHIPS WITH THE PRIVATE SECTOR, GOVERNMENT, COMMUNITIES, AND INDIVIDUALS TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR ALL PENNSYLVANIANS.
SINCE 1970, THE PENNSYLVANIA ENVIRONMENTAL COUNCIL (PEC) HAS PARTICIPATED AS A CENTRAL FIGURE IN THE ENVIRONMENTAL AND CONSERVATION DISCUSSION IN PENNSYLVANIA AND WE WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO. EVERY DAY, PEC MANAGES CHALLENGES FACING PENNSYLVANIA'S WATER, LAND, AND AIR RESOURCES WHETHER FROM PAST ACTIVITIES, CURRENT PRACTICES, OR POTENTIAL FUTURE IMPACTS. WE ARE NOT THE ONLY ENVIRONMENTAL VOICE IN THE COMMONWEALTH, BUT WE UNIQUELY INFORM OUR STATEWIDE POLICY ADVOCACY WITH ON-THE-GROUND LOCAL AND REGIONAL PROJECTS. WE'RE BETTER AT BOTH BECAUSE WE DO BOTH.
TRAILS AND OUTDOOR RECREATION: PEC PROVIDES SUPPORT FOR PLANNING, DEVELOPING, AND PROMOTING REGIONAL TRAIL NETWORKS ACROSS THE STATE, MARKETING STATEWIDE WATER TRAILS, AND BUILDING A RECREATION CONSTITUENCY AND PARTNERSHIP NETWORK. OUR PURPOSE IS TO BRING SOCIAL, ECONOMIC, AND ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY TO EVERY COMMUNITY IN PENNSYLVANIA, AND GIVE CITIZENS THE OPPORTUNITY TO BUILD PERSONAL EXPERIENCE AND RELATIONSHIP WITH THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT. FOR MORE INFORMATION, PLEASE VISIT OUR WEBSITE AT WWW.PECPA.ORG.
WATER RESOURCES: PEC WORKS WITH PUBLIC AND PRIVATE PARTNERS TO PROTECT AND RESTORE THE COMMONWEALTH'S WATER RESOURCES, INCLUDING PROMOTING COMMUNITY RESTORATION EFFORTS, IMPROVING WATERSHED FUNCTION BY REDUCING FLOODING AND POLLUTION THROUGH ADOPTION OF LEADING MANAGEMENT PRACTICES AND POLICIES, STRENGTHENING PENNSYLVANIA'S OVERALL WATER RESOURCE MANAGEMENT PROGRAMS, AND RECOGNIZING THE WORK OF OTHERS TO IMPROVE WATER RESOURCES THROUGHOUT THE STATE. FOR MORE INFORMATION, PLEASE VISIT OUR WEBSITE AT WWW.PECPA.ORG.
COMMUNITIES AND LANDSCAPES: PEC WORKS WITH A VARIETY OF PARTNERS TO LEVERAGE PROGRAMS AND POLICIES RELATED TO CONSERVING AND IMPROVING LARGE LANDSCAPES IN THE COMMONWEALTH AS WELL AS PROVIDING TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND PROGRAMMATIC OPPORTUNITIES FOR ENVIRONMENTAL, ECONOMIC, SUSTAINABLE, AND RECREATIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN THOSE AREAS. PROJECTS INCLUDE, CONSERVATION LANDSCAPES, RIVER TOWN PROGRAMS, ILLEGAL DUMP CLEAN-UPS, AND OTHERS. FOR MORE INFORMATION, PLEASE VISIT OUR WEBSITE AT WWW.PECPA.ORG.
