Organizations Filed Purposes:
TO PROVIDE ESSENTIAL HOUSING, EMPLOYMENT, AND OTHER VITAL SUPPORTIVE SERVICES TO ELIGIBLE VETERANS, SERVICE MEMBERS AND THEIR FAMILIES TO IMPROVE SELF-SUFFICIENCY, SUSTAINABILITY AND QUALITY OF LIFE.
VLP HAS 2 NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED, EFFECTIVE AND COST-EFFICIENT VETERAN EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMS THAT PLACE LOW, MEDIUM, AND HIGH BARRIER VETERANS IN MEANINGFUL JOBS. VLP ENROLLED 229 VETERANS INTO ITS JOB TRAINING AND PLACEMENT PROGRAMS, PROVIDING FREE EMPLOYMENT SERVICES THAT INCLUDE RESUME ASSISTANCE, INTERVIEW TECHNIQUES, NETWORKING TRAINING, INDIVIDUALIZED JOB SEARCH PLANS, AND CAREER COUNSELING. 134 OF THESE CLIENTS WERE SUCCESSFULLY PLACED INTO POSITIONS OF UNSUBSIDIZED EMPLOYMENT.
IN 2019 VLP PROVIDED HOUSING TO 65 VETERAN HOUSEHOLDS THROUGH 5 HUD HOUSING PROGRAMS. IN ADDITION, VLP PROVIDED 584 VETERAN HOUSEHOLDS WITH HOMELESS PREVENTION AND RAPID RE-HOUSING SERVICES. VLP IS ONLY 1 OF ONLY 4 AGENCIES IN WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA THAT IS GRANTED TO SERVE VETERANS IN 18 COUNTIES. VLP ALSO OPERATES AN EMERGENCY HOUSING PROGRAM TO KEEP FAMILIES TOGETHER WHEN EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS WHICH PROVIDED SERVICES TO 176 VETERAN HOUSEHOLDS.
VLP PROVIDES ESSENTIAL SUPPORTIVE SERVICES AND CASE MANAGEMENT, ASSISTING 623 VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES WITH HOMELESS PREVENTION. VLP PROVIDED 183 VETERANS WITH SOAR BENEFITS ASSISTANCE. VLP PROVIDED TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE TO 498 VETERANS, PROVIDING MUCH NEEDED LINKAGES WITH VITAL RESOURCES. VLP ALSO CONNECTED WITH 209 VETERANS AT VLPS 12TH ANNUAL STAND DOWN EVENT. THIS ONE-DAY EVENT, IN WHICH VLP IS A LEAD SPONSOR, INVOLVED OVER 60 ORGANIZATIONS FROM PRIVATE, PUBLIC, AND NON-PROFIT SECTOR, IN ADDITION TO OVER 100 VOLUNTEERS, WHO CAME TOGETHER AND PROVIDED EVERYTHING FROM HAIRCUTS TO VA BENEFIT ENROLLMENT TO MEDICAL TO FOOD TO HOUSING ASSISTANCE, AND MANY OTHER ESSENTIAL SERVICE FOR PEOPLE IN NEED. VLP COMPLETED 261 TAX RETURNS, WITH A TOTAL REFUND AMOUNT OF OVER $318,738, WITH VETERANS WITH FAMILIES RECEIVING OVER $97,669 OF EARNED INCOME TAX CREDITS. VLP ALSO PROVIDED SUPPORT AND ASSISTANCE TO 74 VETERANS INVOLVED IN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM THROUGH VLP'S PARTICIPATION IN VETERAN COURTS IN ALLEGHENY, BEAVER, AND FAYETTE COUNTIES AS WELL AS THE WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA DISTRICT FEDERAL VETERANS COURT.
