Organizations Filed Purposes:
THE ORGANIZATION WILL EDUCATE AND TRAIN THE PUBLIC ON THE PRINCIPLES OF SYSTEMS THINKING. SYSTEMS THINKING IS A TRANSFORMATIONAL APPROACH TO LEARNING, PROBLEM-SOLVING, AND UNDERSTANDING THE WORLD. SYSTEMS THINKING HELPS PEOPLE OF ALL AGES AND WALKS OF LIFE SEE BEYOND THE HEART OF A PROBLEM TO FIND FAIR AND LASTING SOLUTIONS THAT DELIVER BENEFITS. THE ORGANIZATION WILL CONTRACT WITH OTHER ORGANIZATIONS TO PROVIDE SYSTEMS THINKING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SERVICES TO THE EMPLOYEES AND/OR OFFICERS OF SUCH OTHER ORGANIZATIONS.
THE WATERS CENTER UTILIZES A SET OF HABITS, CONCEPTS AND TOOLS TO BRING SYSTEMS THINKING CONCEPTS AND STRATEGIES TO LIFE. THIS INSTRUCTIONAL TOOLBOX IS THE FOUNDATION OF OUR APPROACH TO HELPING PEOPLE BECOME SYSTEMS THINKERS. WE HELP FACILITATE THE DEVELOPMENT OF SYSTEMS THINKERS WHO GO ON TO BECOME CONTRIBUTING ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS. HAVING WORKED WITH PEOPLE FROM AROUND THE WORLD, WE KNOW OUR METHODS EFFECTIVELY BENEFIT AND SUPPORT PEOPLE FROM ALL CULTURES, AGE GROUPS AND WORK PLACES.OUR OFFERINGS INCLUDE:- COACHING AND SUPPORT STRUCTURES TO ADOPT AND IMPLEMENT SYSTEMS THINKING INTO ORGANIZATION, SCHOOL, COMMUNITY AND MORE- PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPTIONS SUCH AS WORKSHOPS VARYING FROM INTRODUCTORY TO ADVANCED- CUSTOMIZED SYSTEMS THINKING INTEGRATION PLANS CREATED FOR SPECIFIC DESIRED OUTCOMES- MULTI-DAY LEARNING EVENTS INCLUDING SYSTEMS THINKING TRAININGS, INSTITUTES AND FORUMS- THE THINKING TOOLS STUDIO IS A DIGITAL LEARNING SPACE CREATED BY THE WATERS CENTER FOR SYSTEMS THINKING. THE STUDIO HAS A WIDE ARRAY OF OFFERINGS INCLUDING COURSES ON THE HABITS, TOOLS AND ARCHETYPES OF SYSTEMS THINKING, RESOURCES LIKE TEMPLATES, LESSON PLANS, FACILITATION GUIDES AND MORE, PLUS OPPORTUNITIES FOR REFLECTION AND PRACTICE.THE SYSTEMS THINKING IN SCHOOL COMMUNITIES PROJECT AIMS TO DEVELOP A MODEL THAT WOULD SCALE THE VALUE OF A SYSTEMS THINKING APPROACH TO SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT, COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND STUDENT EMPOWERMENT IN EARLY EDUCATION (PRESCHOOL . ELEMENTARY GRADES). THE GOAL IS TO BUILD ADULT CAPACITY TO DELIVER ACADEMIC AND LIFETIME BENEFITS TO STUDENTS THROUGH THE EFFECTIVE APPLICATION OF SYSTEMS THINKING STRATEGIES IN CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION AND SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT. THIS PROJECT FOCUSES ON ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS FROM SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN KENTUCKY AND ALABAMA THAT ARE CHALLENGED TO WORK WITH AND MEET THE NEEDS OF COMMUNITIES THAT ARE HIGH POVERTY AND UNDER-SERVED WITH LITTLE TO NO PRIOR SYSTEMS THINKING BACKGROUND. CAPACITY BUILDING THAT INCLUDES A SET OF RESEARCH-BASED HABITS OF SYSTEMS THINKING, A COMMONLY UNDERSTOOD VOCABULARY AND PALETTE OF VISUAL TOOLS TO FOSTER DEEPER LEARNING WILL BUILD DISTRICT, SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS ABILITIES TO SUPPORT AND FOSTER HIGH QUALITY EARLY CHILDHOOD ENVIRONMENTS AND SERVICES.
