IS COMMITTED TO COMBATING THE PROBLEMS OF CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY AND MENTAL ILLNESS BY: A) PROVIDING A CENTRAL POINT OF INTAKE, EVALUATION, AND REFERRAL FOR THE PUBLIC CLIENTS OF BERKS COUNTY WHO ARE IN NEED OF DRUG AND ALCOHOL SERVICES; B) PROVIDING INTENSIVE CASE MANAGEMENT AND BLENDED CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES FOR THE CHEMICALLY DEPENDENT AND THE MENTALLY ILL; AND C) HELPING TO REDUCE THE NUMBER OF DRUG AND ALCOHOL DEPENDENT AND/OR MENTALLY ILL PEOPLE CURRENTLY ON THE CASELOADS OF PUBLIC AGENCIES AND/OR IN PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS.

COMBATING THE PROBLEMS OF CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY AND MENTAL ILLNESS

CENTRAL INTAKE UNIT - TASC PROVIDES A CENTRAL POINT OF INTAKE, EVALUATION, AND REFERRAL FOR THE UNINSURED AND PUBLICLY FUNDED CLIENTS OF BERKS COUNTY WHO ARE IN NEED OF DRUG AND ALCOHOL TREATMENT SERVICES. THE POPULATION SERVED INCLUDES INDIVIDUALS INVOLVED IN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM, CHILDREN & YOUTH SERVICES, BERKS CONNECTIONS/PRE-TRIAL SERVICES, AND JUVENILES INVOLVED WITH THE JUVENILE PROBATION OFFICE. TASC ALSO FACILITATES THE COURT REPORTING NETWORK (CRN) EVALUATION, WHICH IS THE STATE-MANDATED SCREENING TOOL REQUIRED FOR ALL INDIVIDUALS ARRESTED FOR A DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE (DUI) OFFENSE. TASC ALSO PROVIDES ASSESSMENTS FOR JUVENILES INVOLVED IN ACT 53, WHEREBY A PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN MAY PETITION THE COURT OF COMMON PLEAS FOR COMMITMENT OF THE MINOR TO INVOLUNTARY DRUG/ALCOHOL TREATMENT SERVICES. TASC ALSO CONDUCTS ASSESSMENTS AND TREATMENT REFERRALS AT THEBERKS COUNTY JAIL SYSTEM AS PART OF THE MA JAIL PROGRAM. TASC'S CENTRAL INTAKE UNIT SERVED 5,112 CLIENTS DURING FYE 06/30/2018, OF WHICH 4,090 WERE UNIQUE CLIENTS.

MENTAL HEALTH CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES - TASC PROVIDES CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES FOR THE MENTALLY-ILL PUBLICLY FUNDED CLIENTS OF BERKS COUNTY, WITH THE GOAL OF REDUCING SUICIDE, HOMELESSNESS, INCARCERATIONS, AND ENTANGLEMENT WITH AN ONGOING NUMBER OF CONFLICTING SYSTEMS. THESE SERVICES ADDRESS THE ANCILLARY NEEDS OF INDIVIDUALS IN HELPING THEM BECOME SELF-SUFFICIENT AND INDEPENDENT. FOR FISCAL YEAR 2017/18 TASC PROVIDED BLENDED MENTAL HEALTH CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES TO 112 INDIVIDUALS AMMASSING OVER 16,000 SERVICE UNITS.

URINE COLLECTION CENTER - TASC PROVIDES RANDOM, SCHEDULED, OBSERVED, AND CONFIDENTIAL URINALYSIS COLLECTION SERVICES FOR INDIVIDUALS INVOLVED IN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM, PRIMARILY THROUGH THE BERKS COUNTY ADULT PROBATION AND PAROLE OFFICE, CHILDREN AND YOUTH SERVICES, THE PA BOARD OF PAROLE, BERKS CONNECTIONS/PRE-TRIAL SERVICES, AND FOR THE PUBLIC AT LARGE. TASC WORKS CLOSELY AND PROVIDES COLLECTION SERVICES FOR INDIVIDUALS INVOLVED IN THE DRUG, DUI, MENTAL HEALTH, AND VETERANS TREATMENT COURT PROGRAMS. ALL REFERRAL SOURCES HAVE ONLINE ACCESS TO CLIENT RESULTS WITHIN 48 HOURS OF THE SPECIMEN COLLECTION DATE. DONORS ARE OBSERVED THROUGH A ONE-WAY MIRROR BY GENDER SPECIFIC MONITORS. ALL SPECIMENS COLLECTED ARE SENT TO REDWOOD TOXICOLOGY FOLLOWING ALL FEDERALLY APPROVED CHAIN OF CUSTODY PROCEDURES. DONORS REMIT A $6.00 CO-PAY AT THE TIME OF SERVICE. A SIX PANEL DRUG TEST INCLUDES SCREENING FOR AMPHETAMINE AND METHAMPHETAMINE, BENZODIAZEPINES, COCAINE, OPIATES, OXYCODONE, AND MARIJUANA. TASC MAY ALSO TEST FOR K2/SPICE, FENTANYL, ETG, ANABOLIC STEROIDS, AND OTHER SUBSTANCES AS REQUESTED. FOR FIXCAL YEAR 2017/18 TASC COLLECTED 42,980 SPECIMENS, WITH A POSITIVE RATE OF 14%.INSTANT CUPS - TASC PURCHASES AND DISTRIBUTES DRUG TEST SUPPLIES, COMPRISED OF 6-PANEL INSTANT CUPS, AND PAPERWORK, FOR RESALE TO THE VARIOUS BERKS COUNTY HALFWAY PROGRAMS FUNDED BY THE COUNCIL ON CHEMICAL ABUSE, NAMELY THE YMCA, CAMP JOY, EDI INC., AND BERKS COUNSELING CENTER. THESE DRUG TESTING SUPPLIES PROVIDE THE SPECIFIC RECOVERY HOUSES AN OPPORTUNITY TO VERIFY ABSTINENCE AMONG THEIR RESIDENTS IN CONFIRMING THAT THEIR ENVIRONMENTS REMAIN CONDUCIVE TO RECOVERY. TASC ACCEPTS ORDERS FROM EACH RECOVERY HOUSE AND SUBMITS INVOICES TO COCA FOR REIMBURSEMENT.
