EDUCATION: DURING THE REPORTING PERIOD (JANUARY 1, 2019 DECEMBER 31, 2019), 2,427 PRIMARY AND SECONDARY STUDENTS FROM AROUND THE COUNTRY ATTENDED CIVIC EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOCUSED ON RESPONSIBLE CITIZENSHIP, AMERICAN HISTORY, AND THE FOUNDING DOCUMENTS. RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMS ARE HELD ON FREEDOMS FOUNDATION'S 72-ACRE CAMPUS IN VALLEY FORGE, PA. THIS FISCAL YEAR 401 K-12 TEACHERS PARTICIPATED IN SUMMER GRADUATE-LEVEL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS THAT PROVIDE CONTENT RICH INSTRUCTION IN AMERICAN HISTORY AND CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. IN CONJUNCTION WITH NON-PROFIT PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS THE FOUNDATION COOPERATING IN PROVIDING PROGRAMING RELATED TO AMERICAN HISTORY AND OTHER PROGRAMMING THAT ENGAGED THE STUDY OF THE HOLOCAUST THAT REACHED AN ADDITIONAL 304 TEACHERS. (CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O)WITH TEACHERS AVERAGING 100 STUDENTS IN A SINGLE SCHOOL YEAR, THIS MEANS MORE THAN 70,500 STUDENTS WERE IMPACTED BY FREEDOMS FOUNDATION'S EFFORTS IN THE 2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR. THROUGH ITS NATIONAL AWARDS PROGRAM, FREEDOMS FOUNDATION RECOGNIZED 84 INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANIZATIONS IN 2019 AS EXAMPLES OF RESPONSIBLE CITIZENSHIP, RECOGNIZING ADULTS AND STUDENTS FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE, PUBLIC COMMUNICATIONS, STUDENT ESSAYS, SPECIAL EVENTS, AND TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATORS.
HONORING ACTS OF CIVIC VIRTUE: THE LEAVEY AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE IN PRIVATE ENTERPRISE EDUCATION WERE PRESENTED BY FREEDOMS FOUNDATION TO 8 TEACHERS FOR THEIR UNIQUE AND INNOVATIVE TEACHER ABOUT THE FREE ENTERPRISE SYSTEM. SINCE ITS FOUNDING IN 1949, MORE THAN 56,000 AWARDS HAVE BEEN PRESENTED, 12,000 TEACHERS AND 100,000 STUDENTS HAVE PARTICIPATED DIRECTLY IN ON AND OFF CAMPUS EDUCATION PROGRAMS, AND MORE THAN 5,000,000 STUDENTS HAVE BEEN IMPACTED BY OUR CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION EFFORTS. SUCCESS METRICS FROM PARTICIPANT SURVEYS INDICATE THAT MORE THAN 90% OF STUDENT ALUMNI REGISTER TO VOTE AT THEIR FIRST OPPORTUNITY AND VOTE REGULARLY THEREAFTER (COMPARED TO LESS THAN 50% NATIONALLY), MORE THAN 88% OF STUDENTS VOLUNTEER REGULARLY (COMPARED TO 22% NATIONALLY), (CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O)AND MORE THAN 98% OF STUDENT AND TEACHER PARTICIPANTS WOULD RECOMMEND OUR PROGRAMS TO FRIENDS AND COLLEAGUES.
