Organizations Filed Purposes:
DRBC's mission is five-fold: Rescue abandoned, owner relinquished, neglected or stray dachshunds or dachshund mixes. Rehabilitate through excellent medical and behavioral support those in our care. Rehome those in our charge with an emphasis on their personality and not a quick fix based on needed space. Provide life-long sanctuary to those with long-term medical/behavioral issues. Additionally, DRBC supports the long-term sanctuary of senior dachshunds. Finally, we seek to provide community education to enhance the life and well-being of all pets through the DRBC community education program. DRBC prides itself as an organization on the level of medical care provided and in its role as a medical resource for the dachshund breed. Community education is at the forefront of the DRBC mission.
Older doxies are no different to DRBC than younger ones. They receive the same support and medical care a puppy would; everything is taken care of by our veterinarians. Then the hard part begins. The search for a new home. Generally, this yields no results. Now, for very special applicants interested in an older doxie, but hesitant to participate as the dog may have higher medical bills or other special needs, DRBC will share ownership with the adoptee. The rescue is responsible for all medical care and any special dietary requirements.
