Human Life Services is a life affirming Christ-centered pregnancy care organization serving York through medical services, peer counseling, education and community referrals.
Counseling Services:This program provides education, support, mentoring and community referrals to women and men facing an unplanned pregnancy. This service also provides information regarding a woman's alternatives regarding her pregnancy decision, which include abortion, parenting or adoption. During the 2019 calendar year there were 1,135 client appointments for mentoring provided to 206 individual clients. Help was also given by handing out 298 dozen diapers, 38 cans of formula and other infant supplies for new mothers. Emergency clothing was provided to 4 clients. Unplanned, pregnancy, emergency-type materials were handed out during the year to 84 men and women.Evidence-based medical information was provided to 157 women and Post-Abortion support services were also provided to 6 women. There were 84 babies born to clients in 2019 and 92 Bibles were handed out.
Medical Services:Medical program/clinic performs pregnancy tests to verify a pregnancy, and if the patient is at least 6 weeks along an ultrasound can be performed. In the year 2019 101 ultrasounds were performed and 81 pregnancy tests were administered. HLS provides a limited obstetrical ultrasound for four reasons: 1.) to confirm the presence of a viable intrauterine pregnancy, 2.) to detect fetal cardiac activity, 3.) to estimate gestational age, and 4.) for familial reasons relating to maternal health.The Organization seeks to educate women in several areas - STI's (Sexually Transmitted Infections), information regarding their pregnancy options such as: making an adoption plan or abortion, pre-natal care, and parenting.HLS does not refer for or provide contraceptives or abortion services.
