GOALS: THE GOALS OF ALL Y PROGRAMS AND PRACTICES ARE TO HELP PARTICIPANTS GROW AS RESPONSIBLE MEMBERS OF FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES, UNDERSTAND THAT WELL-BEING MEANS A HEALTHY BODY, MIND AND SPIRIT, BUILD SELF-ESTEEM AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS. MEMBERS: IN 2014 APPROXIMATELY 2,900 PEOPLE WERE Y MEMBERS. IN ADDITION THE Y SERVED APPROXIMATELY 21,500 PEOPLE WHO PARTICIPATED IN Y PROGRAMS. YOUTH CAMP: THE CAMPING PROGRAM IS BOTH A RECREATIONAL AND LASTING EXPERIENCE OF PERSONAL ENRICHMENT. IT IS DESIGNED TO HELP CAMPERS BE AWARE OF THEIR BODIES AND FITNESS, LEARN THE VALUE OF COOPERATION AND GAIN CONFIDENCE IN THEMSELVES. AQUATICS: THE Y PROVIDES WATER EDUCATION INSTRUCTION FOR PEOPLE OF ALL AGES. THE POOL IS DESIGNED TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE HANDICAPPED, INFANTS, YOUTH, SENIORS, AND FAMILIES. YOUTH SPORT PROGRAMS: THE SPORT PROGRAMS PROVIDE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL AREA YOUTH TO PARTICIPATE IN VARIOUS SPORTS IN WHICH THEY HAVE AN INTEREST. INCLUDED ARE BASEBALL, BASKETBALL, GOLF, HOCKEY, ETC. FITNESS AND EXERCISE: THE Y PROVIDES MANY FITNESS AND EXERCISE PROGRAMS FOR PEOPLE OF ALL AGES. INCLUDED ARE EAGLE EXERCISE EQUIPMENT, WEIGHT EQUIPMENT, SUPERVISED AEROBICS AND OTHER EXERCISE PROGRAMS. THE FAMILY Y OF ALBERT LEA, MINNESOTA PROVIDED $162,940 OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO YOUTH AND ADULTS IN THE FORM OF DISCOUNTED MEMBERSHIPS AND FEES THIS PAST YEAR.
