WELLS ACADEMY IS A NON-PROFIT APPRENTICE TRAINING PROGRAM THAT USES MODERN EQUIPMENT, EFFECTIVE INSTRUCTION, AND REVELANT CURRICULUM TO PROVIDE TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND RESPONSIBLE LIFE SKILLS FOR SELF-SUPPORTING INDUSTRIAL JOBS FOR ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED NATIVE AMERICANS WHILE RESPECTING THEIR CULTURAL VALUES.
PURPOSE OF WELLS ACADEMY IS TO PROVIDE ONE YEAR OF INTENSE TRAINING IN INDUSTRIAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE SO STUDENTS CAN LEARN JOB SKILLS WHICH WILL LEAD TO SELF-SUPPORTING EMPLOYMENT FOR NATIVE AMERICAN PEOPLE WHO HAVE NOT BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN THE PUBLIC EDUCATION SYSTEM OR IN OBTAINING EMPLOYMENT. IN ADDITION TO JOB SKILLS, STUDENTS ALSO LEARN RESPONSIBLE LIVING SKILLS SUCH AS DEPENDABLE ATTENDANCE, WORK ATTITUDES, RESPECT, AND COOPERATION WHICH HELP THEM MAKE THE TRANSITION FROM THEIR TRADITIONAL LIFE TO A SUCCESSFUL MODERN INDUSTRIAL LIFE WITH EMPLOYMENT.
