Organizations Filed Purposes: Enhance relationships among Anoka County residents by providing voluntary mediation services. Promote and educate the Anoka County community and legal system in alternative dispute resolution techniques which encourage peace and harmony in the community. Supplement the community legal system by providing an alternative process for dispute resolution.

Mediation offered to parents and families regarding parenting time, schedules, and/or other conflicts that the participants are requesting to resolve. Mediation with parties throughout Anoka County communities offering no cost-low mediation to resolve conflict and assist parties in creating their own resolutions. Beginning in February of 2020 the start of a housing clinic will begin in Anoka County Government Center. This is a collaboration with Anoka County Judges, Volunteer Lawyers, Judicare and Economic Assistance. This is an effort that has been underway throughout the entire 2019 year. In addition to the housing clinic MARS has been in collaboration with Salvation Army and Family Promise over this past year and 1/2 to increase our ability to serve the households in need of housing stability. Volunteer mediators are in County Courts 2 to 3 times a week to offer Mediation services to parties often resulting in agreements such as: payment plans. 90% of citizens are able to resolve their conflict, write up an agreement, and go before the judge with the issue resolved.

Throughout 2019 Mars has continued to expand Restorative services offered throughout the county and beyond. MARS has established a partnership with Dispute Resolution Center in Ramsey County to offer Restorative Services to schools that involves customized implementation of Restorative work (circles, training's, intervention, and direct service). MARS continues to be the restorative diversion for juveniles and adults through the diversion program offered by MARS and the Victim Services referrals for Victim Offender Dialog. Referrals continue to increase from Anoka County for juveniles and MARS is currently investigating creative ways to communicate about the healing nature of victim offender dialog to all participants.

MARS continues to provide education about our services through outreach and training throughout the county. Over this past year MARS staff has presented at 12 different organizations providing both training in resolving conflicts and mediation training. Specific trainings are focused on Restorative Practice Implementation, Rule #114 mediation training, Circles, and Implicit Bias.
