Organizations Filed Purposes: ACT V Rescue & Rehabilitation's mission is taking in animals with extreme medical or behavioral issues and thoughtfully rehoming the most unwanted and neglected animals, providing a healing and caring environment where physical and mental rehabilitation is possible.

In 2019, ACT V Rescue & Rehabilitation rescued 22 dogs, 57 cats and 1 bird. Of the dogs, 3 were owner surrenders and the remainder came from the Red Lake Native American Reservation, Pine Ridge Native American Reservation, White Earth Reservation or Leech Lake Reservation located in Northern Minnesota and South Dakota. Of the cats, 3 were from Bloomington Animal Control and the remainder came from one of the Red Lake, Leech Lake, White Earth or Pine Ridge Native American Reservations located in Northern Minnesota and South Dakota. In addition, we supported a dog and a cat, in long term foster care. The bird, a Budgerigar, once hatched, was refused by its mother and would have died if not for around the clock care.In 2019, 90% of the animals ACT V Rescue took in required extensive medical caresuch as referrals to specialists, surgery and/or ICU support and/or behavioral rehabilitation. A sampling of some of our other cases in 2019: 6 sets of orphan kitten litters and 2 litters of puppies that required around the clock care to survive; One 5 day old kitten found alone by a good Samaritan and delivered to an Emergency Vet Clinic. She required dedicated care; Three dogs were surrendered by their owners because they could no longer care for them. The team volunteered at a Wellness Clinic on the Mille Lacs Indian Reservation. We provided vaccines, exams and medications. We returned with two animals who were surrendered by their owners because of medical care that was too expensive or they were unwanted pets. One of the dogs required immediate emergency care due to an injury sustained a week before our visit. His trachea was torn and eventually he had one of his eyes removed by a sugical ophthalmolgy specialist. Our team volunteered at a Wellness Clinic at Red Lake Reservation. We also worked with Animal Control when able, to help animals that have been injured. We took in three unwanted cats that needed medical care to survive. Two of the dogs required extensive medical management and surgical intervention. We are supporting one dog and one cat that in long-term foster care. Both of these animals require constant medical support due to disease.ACT V Rescue routinely and successfully treated and placed animals with mange, malnutrition, mutilation, broken bones, tick borne diseases, heartworm disease, infectious disease (parvovirus, feline leukemia, intestinal parasites), injuries and neglect. This year, Act V Rescue and Rehabilitation was able to to rehabilitate and rehome 98% of the animals we took in. Each of the four founding volunteers dedicated roughly 1,800 hours of their time to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome these animals.
