Vista Prairie Communities (VPC) served 864 residents and employed a staff of 463 during the year. The organization has developed and maintained single asset, limited liability companies (LLC's) that currently own eight facilities, providing services for low-income residents, senior assisted living, independent living, and memory care housing. VPC's locations are in three states: Minnesota, Iowa, and Ohio. A ninth LLC, Vista Prairie Management, is the operating entity overseeing all the other single asset LLC operations.(Continued on Schedule O)VPC was incorporated in 1997 as a nonprofit organization for charitable purposes under its original name Governmental & Educational Assistance Corporation. During the year, we provided $3.7 million in charitable support to qualifying residents in various public assistance programs. VPC is dedicated to the highest possible quality, striving to provide innovative and relevant services through collaborative partnerships; making a significant difference in the lives of those we serve and their loved ones. The Vision of Vista Prairie Communities is to continually evolve to enrich the lives of those we are called to serve and to meet the growing needs of the greater community. To accomplish our mission and vision, we have organized as eight limited liability corporations serving older adults.Fieldcrest-GEAC, LLC, operates an 81-unit assisted living senior housing facility offering assisted living and memory care and located in Sheldon, Iowa. Garnette Gardens-GEAC, LLC, operates an 86-unit senior living housing facility offering assisted living and memory care located in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. Goldfinch Estates-GEAC, LLC, operates a 134-unit senior housing facility that includes assisted living and a memory care facility in Fairmont, Minnesota. Monarch Meadows-GEAC, LLC, operates a 98-unit senior housing facility providing assisted living and care suites located in North Mankato, Minnesota. Copperleaf-GEAC, LLC, operates an 82-unit senior living facility offering assisted living and memory care in Willmar, Minnesota. Windmill Ponds-GEAC, LLC, operates a 65-unit assisted living facility located in Alexandria, Minnesota. River Heights Assisted Living, LLC, operates a 60-unit assisted living and memory care facility in South Saint Paul, Minnesota. Emerald Village-GEAC, LLC, operates a 100-unit independent senior living and 30-unit assisted living campus located in North Olmsted, Ohio.In February 2020, a month before the Coronavirus pandemic hit Minnesota, Leading Age, the state's most prominent professional organization for senior living, presented all six Vista Prairie Communities in Minnesota with its Award of Merit for Performance Excellence. The award confirmed Vista Prairie's achievement of its strategic priority -- to create an exceptional lifestyle for residents. The performance excellence program focuses on seven areas of achievement and improvement: leadership, strategy, customers, measurement, workforce, operations, and results. The award created a new perspective for processes and systems, as well as an increased level of teamwork, needed to face the challenges ahead.Vista Prairie spent the last four months of its fiscal year navigating the first four months of the COVID-19 pandemic. The groundwork laid in previous years equipped staff to make thoughtful and timely decisions based on information available, limiting resident COVID-19 infections to one positive test throughout all sites through the year ending June 30, 2020. Following an industry wide reduction in senior living occupancy, recovery is now our number one priority, focusing on leading indicator efforts such as referral development and community connections.Amid this crisis, Vista Prairie cared for its staff, as well as its residents. Despite the longest lasting public health crisis in our lifetime, our 2020 employee satisfaction increased by three percentage points from our 2019 survey.With plans to continue program service expansion, Vista Prairie completed the due diligence and negotiation to acquire a ninth location for its network during the fiscal year ending June 30, 2020. Brentwood Senior Living in Rice Lake, Wisconsin joined Vista Prairie Communities in December 2020.
