IT IS THE MISSION OF COMMUNITY ACTION DULUTH TO EMPOWER AND ENGAGE OUR COMMUNITY TO ELIMINATE POVERTY, AND CREATE PROSPERITY AND EQUITY IN THE LIVES OF THE PEOPLE WE SERVE.
COMMUNITY ACTION DULUTH STRIVES TO BE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN POVERTY AND PROSPERITY. WE MAKE THIS DIFFERENCE BY HELPING PEOPLE WITH LOW INCOMES DEVELOP ASSETS THAT THEY CAN LEVERAGE TO GET OUT OF POVERTY. THESE ASSETS INCLUDE FINANCIAL SKILLS, EDUCATION, FINANCIAL AND EMPLOYMENT COACHING, ASSET BUILDING OPPORTUNITIES, JOB SKILLS, LEADERSHIP SKILLS, SOCIAL CAPITAL, HEALTH SKILLS, INSURANCE, AS WELL AS FAIR POLICY AND HEALTHY NATURAL ENVIRONMENT.
1,155 PEOPLE RECEIVED ASSISTANCE ENROLLING IN MNSURE. THE FAMILY FREEDOM CENTER ENGAGED 517 ADULTS AND CHILDREN IN EVENTS. 156 ADULTS AND KIDS RECEIVED A REFURBISHED BIKE IN BIKEPLUS, 72 PEOPLE RECEIVED ASSISTANCE IN RECEIVING THEIR DRIVER'S LICENSES AND 14 PEOPLE RECEIVED A DONATED VEHICLE THROUGH OUR TRANSPORTATION PROGRAMS.
THE FREE TAX SITE COMPLETED TAX RETURNS FOR 1320 HOUSEHOLDS, BRINGING 2.3 MILLION IN REFUNDS TO THE COMMUNITY. STREAM CORPS PLANTED 15,800 TREES AND REMOVED 160 ACRES OF INVASIVE SPECIES. SEEDS OF SUCCESS PROVIDED HEALTHY AND AFFORDABLE PRODUCE TO 279 EBT USERS AND DISTRIBUTED 11,706 IN SNAP AND SNAP MATCH AT LINCOLN PARK, HILLSIDE, AND THE WINTER FARMER'S MARKETS. OUR POWER OF PRODUCE (POP) PROGRAM ASSISTED 758 CHILDREN WITH 3,032 IN PRODUCE OF THEIR CHOOSING.
THE COACHING PROGRAM ASSISTED 54 PEOPLE OBTAIN THEIR GED, COMPLETE CAREER TRAINING CERTIFICATES OR ENROLL IN POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION. 100 PEOPLE OBTAINED EMPLOYMENT OR INCREASED THEIR CREDIT SCORE. THE COACHING PROGRAM ASSISTED 17 PEOPLE IN PURCHASING THEIR FIRST HOME.
