FOSTERING VIBRANT LIVES FOR PEOPLE WITH VISION LOSS AND OTHER CHALLENGES TO INDEPENDENCE. TO ACCOMPLISH THIS MISSION, THE LIGHTHOUSE OPERATES MANY DIFFERENT PROGRAMS, SERVING PEOPLE OF ALL AGES IN NORTHERN MN AND NORTHWESTERN WI. AS A RESULT OF OUR COMMITMENT, PEOPLE ARE MAXIMIZING THEIR SELF-RELIANCE AND ARE OPTOMOSTIC ABOUT POSSIBILITIES. OUR PROGRAMS - DEIVERED AT OUR CENTER, IN CLIENTS' HOMES AND IN WORKPLACES - PROVIDE TRAINING, TECHNOLOGY AND SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL SUPPORTS THAT EMPOWER THE WHOLE PERSON.
SAFE AT HOME SET FOR SERVICES: SAFE AT HOME PROGRAMS INCLUDE OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY SERVICES, LOW VISION OPTOMETRY, SUPPORT GROUPS AND THE NEW TECHNOLOGY AND ME INITIATIVE. ALL THESE SERVICES PROMOTE AGING IN PLACE, SAFETY, AND QUALITY OF LIFE, ESPECIALLY FOR OLDER ADULTS. ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDE PROVIDING 1:1 SERVICES TO MORE THAN 200 OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY CLIENTS, AND ANOTHER 100+ VIA TECHNOLOGY SERVICES AND/OR LOW VISION OPTOMETRY. OT CLIENTS SHOWED AN INCREASE OF MORE THAN 15 PERCENTAGE POINTS IN THEIR FUNCTIONAL INDEPENDENCE ACCORDING TO A NATIONALLY VALIDATED OUTCOME MEASURE. SURVEY RESULTS INDICATE VERY HIGH RATES OF CUSTOMER SATISFACTION AND PERCEIVED BENEFIT IN ABILITY TO READ, SAFTEY, QUALITY OF LIFE AND MORE.
TEEN TRANSITION PROGRAMA AND CAMPS: THIS PROGRAM SERVES STUDENTS 14-21 FROM ACROSS MN WHO HAVE VISION LOSS. SERVED 35 TEENS, WITH DOCUMENTABLE IMPROVEMENTS IN SKILLS NEEDED FOR FUTURE SUCCESS AND INDEPENDENCE, INCLUDING TECHNOLOGY, TRAVEL SKILLS, DAILY LIVING SKILLS, SELF-ADVOCACY, EMOTIONAL ADJUSTMENT AND WORKPLACE READINESS.
ADJUSTMENT TO BLINDNESS REHABILITATION SERVICES: INTENSIVE TRAINING AT OUR CENTER AND/OR IN CLIENTS' HOMES OR WORKPLACES. TRAINING IS PERSON-CENTERED AND HIGHLY INDIVIDUALIZED TO EACH PERSON'S NEEDS TO LIVE INDEPENDENTLY. SERVE APPROXIMATELY 35 INDIVIDUALS PER YEAR.
