THE AGGREGATE READY MIX OF MINNESOTA (ARM OR THE ASSOCIATION) IS A STATEWIDE 501(C) (6) NOT-FOR-PROFIT ASSOCIATION OF PRODUCERS AND BUSINESSES WHO HAVE A COMMON INTEREST IN THE PRODUCTION OF AGGREGATE AND READY MIX CONCRETE. THE MISSION STATEMENT OF THE ASSOCIATION STATES THAT "ARM IS COMMITTED TO THE AGGREGATE AND READY MIX INDUSTRIES THROUGH PROMOTION, EDUCATION, ENVIRONMENT, AND GOVERNMENT ISSUES." THE ASSOCIATION WAS FOUNDED IN 1950. ARM MEMBERS SERVE ON THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE RMC RESEARCH AND EDUCATION FOUNDATION AND ARE MEMBERS OF THE NATIONAL READY MIX CONCRETE ASSOCIATION (NRMCA) AND THE NATIONAL STONE, SAND & GRAVEL ASSOCIATION (NSSGA). ARM RECOGNIZES THE OUTSTANDING WORK OF ITS MEMBERSHIP ANNUALLY THROUGH ITS LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS. ARM HOLDS AN ANNUAL MEETING IN NOVEMBER EACH YEAR AND ALSO HOSTS THE CONCRETE OPEN, AN INDUSTRY GOLF OUTING HELD IN EACH YEAR AND A SUMMER BREEZE MEMBER NETWORKING EVENT AND BOARD MEETING IN JULY.ARM WORKS VIGOROUSLY TO ENSURE THAT ITS MEMBERS AND THEIR CUSTOMERS ARE KEPT CURRENT OF THE LATEST TECHNOLOGIES AND DEVELOPMENTS. TO ACCOMPLISH THIS GOAL, ARM IS A LOCAL SPONSORING GROUP FOR THE AMERICAN CONCRETE INSTITUTE (ACI) AND DELIVERS ACI AND MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (MNDOT) TECHNICAL CERTIFICATION TRAINING IN CONJUNCTION WITH LAKE SUPERIOR COLLEGE, DULUTH, MN. ARM OFFERS THE FOLLOWING CERTIFICATION COURSES THROUGH THIS COOPERATIVE EFFORT: AGGREGATE PRODUCTION 1: CONCRETE FIELD TESTING TECHNICIAN LEVEL 1; CONCRETE FIELD II; ACI CONCRETE FINISHER PROGRAM; CONCRETE PLANT I; CONCRETE PLANT I RECERTIFICATION; CONCRETE PLANT II; AND CONCRETE PLANT II RECERTIFICATION. ARM ALSO PROVIDES CONCRETE PAVEMENT AND PERVIOUS CONCRETE TRAINING. IN FY2017, ARM ENTERED INTO A THREE-YEAR CONTRACT WITH LAKE SUPERIOR COLLEGE TO CONTINUE TO OFFER THESE CLASSES FOR 2017-2020 TO OVER 1300 STUDENTS.ARM PARTNERS WITH ITS CEMENT PRODUCER MEMBERS TO PROMOTE CONCRETE PARKING LOTS AND LOCAL STREETS IN MINNESOTA THROUGH A PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CONCRETE PAVING ASSOCIATION OF MINNESOTA (CPAM). ARM STAFF WORKS WITH ARM MEMBERS TO INCREASE THE MARKET SHARE FOR CONCRETE IN THESE MARKETS THROUGH THIS SIGNIFICANT JOINT EFFORT WITH THE NATIONAL READY MIX CONCRETE ASSOCIATION (NRMCA). THE READY MIX CONCRETE DIVISION OVERSEES OPERATION FLATWORK TO PROMOTE ALL CONCRETE FLATWORK APPLICATIONS IN THE STATE AND FOCUSES ON LOCAL GOVERNMENT MARKETS THROUGH WWW.ARMOFMN.COM, ADVERTISING, AND MEDIA INITIATIVES. ARM JOINED THE BUSINESS LEADERSHIP COUNCIL OF THE LEAGUE OF MINNESOTA CITIES IN FY2016 TO EDUCATE MUNICIPAL POLICY MAKERS ON AGGREGATE RESOURCES AND READY MIX CONCRETE PRODUCTION AND USE IN MINNESOTA. ARM BECAME A MEMBER OF THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF CONCRETE CONTRACTORS IN 2016. ARM DIRECTOR OF TECHNICAL ADVOCACY TUMER AKAKIN PHD. IS A PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER (CIVIL) AND IS A MEMBER OF ACI, THE PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS ASSOCIATION OF MINNESOTA, AND THE MINNESOTA CITY ENGINEERS ASSOCIATION.ARM MEMBERS AND THE ARM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR WORKED WITH LEGISLATIVE CONSULTING FIRMS, FLAHERTY HOOD AND LARKIN HOFFMAN, TO REPRESENT ARM MEMBERS AT THE MINNESOTA LEGISLATURE, STATE AGENCIES AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT BODIES ON REGULATORY AND PUBLIC POLICY ISSUES IMPACTING THE AGGREGATE AND READY MIX INDUSTRIES IN MINNESOTA.
