Organizations Filed Purposes: LEADERS FOR COMMUNITY PROSPERITY. ADVOCATES FOR BUSINESS.

NETWORKING - NETWORKING CONTINUES TO BE A PRIMARY BENEFIT FOR OUR MEMBERS. IN 2018 WE HELD OVER 60 PROGRAMS WITH NEARLY 5,000 ATTENDEES AT VARIOUS MEMBER LOCATIONS. IN ADDITION, WE HELP OUR MEMBERS CONNECT WITH ONE ANOTHER THROUGH NEWS UPDATES AND REGULAR COMMUNICATIONS. WE CONTINUED TO ADD INFORMATIONAL ARTICLES TO OUR ONLINE BUSINESS RESOURCE CENTER ON OUR WEBSITE. WE WILL BE HIGHLIGHTING SOME NEW EVENTS IN 2019 SINCE IT IS THE CHAMBER'S 50TH YEAR.

PUBLIC POLICY - THE CHAMBER ADVOCATES ON BEHALF OF ITS BUSINESS MEMBERS ON LOCAL, COUNTY, STATE AND FEDERAL ISSUES. WE HELD CANDIDATE FORUMS AS PART OF THE 2018 ELECTIONS SO MEMBERS COULD GET TO KNOW CANDIDATES BETTER. THROUGH A STRONG CONNECTION TO THE LOCAL EDEN PRAIRIE GOVERNMENT AS WELL AS OUR DISTRICT AND STATE OFFICIALS, THE CHAMBER CAN OFFER A DIRECT ROUTE TO GETTING INVOLVED WITH PUBLIC POLICY AND HAVING YOUR BUSINESS VOICE HEARD. WE ADVOCATED ON ISSUES ON TRANSPORTATION FUNDING, SOUTHWEST LRT, BUSINESS TAX RELIEF, AND FISCAL DISPARITIES CHANGES AND EVEN TESTIFIED AT THE CAPITOL AS PART OF OUR EFFORTS.

COMMUNITY BUILDING - IN 2018, THE CHAMBER PUBLISHED ITS 3RD VISITOR'S GUIDE TO PROMOTE AREA BUSINESSES, RESTAURANTS, RETAILERS AND THE COMMUNITY TO THE PEOPLE WHO WERE IN THE TWIN CITIES FOR THE GOLF TOURNAMENT. WE PRINTED 8,000 COPIES OF THIS GUIDE AND DISTRIBUTED THEM THROUGH AREA HOTELS, FLYING CLOUD AIRPORT AND THE CHAMBER OFFICES. THE CHAMBER CONTINUES ITS EFFORTS IN BUILDING A STRONG COMMUNITY INCLUDING GIVING OUT OVER $90,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS SINCE THE INCEPTION OF THE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM AND PROMOTING THE FUTURE LEADERS/STUDENT MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM. AS THE FIRST CHAMBER IN THE NATION TO OFFER THIS UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR STUDENTS, OUR PROGRAM HAS HELPED YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS AND BUSINESS PEOPLE LEARN HOW TO NETWORK, ENGAGE, DO BUSINESS, AND EVEN DRESS PROPERLY IN THE "REAL WORLD." WE HELD OUR FIFTH ANNUAL CAREER FAIR AT THE EDEN PRAIRIE HIGH SCHOOL WITH ALMOST 60 BUSINESSES PARTICIPATING AND OVER 1,000 STUDENTS ATTENDING.
