2019 PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS CHILDREN'S DISCOVERY MUSEUM (CDM) CDM'S MISSION IS TO SPARK A CHILD'S JOY OF DISCOVERY AND ENRICH THE LIVES OF CHILDREN THROUGH FUN AND EDUCATIONAL HANDS-ON LEARNING EXPERIENCES IN SCIENCE, THE ARTS, AND HUMANITIES. MANY LOCAL FAMILIES TAKE ADVANTAGE OF OUR ECONOMICAL MEMBERSHIP TO THE MUSEUM, BECAUSE CHILDREN ENJOY REVISITING THEIR FAVORITE AREAS AND DISCOVERING WHEN THERE ARE NEW AREAS AND NEW ACTIVITIES. THE MUSEUM IS A VERY POPULAR SPOT FOR VISITING TOURISTS WITH YOUNG CHILDREN AS WELL. IN 2019 THE MUSEUM HOSTED 21 , 727 VISITORS. THE SCHOOL SERVICE PROGRAM HAD MANY PARTICIPANTS DURING THE 2019 - 2020 SCHOOL YEAR. AS WITH MOST PLACES, OUR NUMBERS ARE QUITE A BIT DOWN DUE TO COVID-19. OUR MUSEUM WAS CLOSED FOR 4 MONTHS, AND LOCAL SCHOOLS WERE CLOSED SO THERE WERE NO FIELD TRIPS. SCHOOL CHILDREN - 2034 TEACHERS - 299 CHAPERONES- 308 INDEPENDENT EVALUATION OF SCHOOL SERVICES PROGRAM BY PARTICIPATING ADULTS CONSISTENTLY SCORE HIGH ON THE USEFULNESS OF CDM'S PROGRAMS. (5 BEING THE STRONGLY AGREE, 1 BEING STRONGLY DISAGREE). THE CDM PROGRAMS HELP SUPPORT ACADEMIC STANDARDS SET BY THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND THE LEARNING GOALS I HAVE FOR MY STUDENTS. SCORE - 4.72 OUR VISIT TO CDM WAS A VALUABLE USE OF CLASS TIME. SCORE - 4.84 OUR VISIT TO THE CDM WAS A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE WE COULD NOT HAVE HAD IN THE CLASSROOM. SCORE - 4.76 WE OFFERED MANY EVENTS TO THE COMMUNITY THIS YEAR AS WELL. OVER 400 PEOPLE ATTENDING OUR ANNUAL WIZARD OF OZ ACTIVITIES, OVER 450 PEOPLE ATTENDING THE ANNUAL FAMILY HOHOHO CHRISTMAS PARTY AND WITH 250 PEOPLE ATTENDING OUR COSTUME PARTY. ALL OF EVENTS ARE OFFERED FREE TO THE COMMUNITY. THROUGHOUT THE YEAR WE OFFER MANY SPECIALIZED EVENTS AND DAYS THAT OUR COMMUNITY AND MEMBERS COULD ATTEND AND ENJOY: PENGUIN PARTY, IT'S ALL GONE TO THE DOGS DAY, EASTER PARTY, DR. SUESS'S BIRTHDAY PARTY, KEVA FAMILY BUILD COMPETITION, AND MORE. 2019 PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS JUDY GARLAND MUSEUM (JGM) JGM'S MISSION IS TO ENGAGE PEOPLE IN EXPLORING THE LIFE AND TIMES OF JUDY GARLAND WHO MADE SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTIONS TO BROAD PATTERNS IN AMERICAN HISTORY. THE MUSEUM OPERATES THE CIRCA 1925 HISTORIC GUMM FAMILY HOURS WHERE JUDY GARLAND SPENT HER FORMATIVE YEARS. AN EVER CHANGING EXHIBITS GALLERY, AND MAINTAINS A 20,000 PIECE PERMANENT COLLECTION OF ARTIFACTS AND MEMORABLILIA. ADJACENT TO THE HISTORIC HOUSE, THERE IS A MEMORIAL GARDEN WHERE PEOPLE CAN EXPLORE CIRCA 1925 YARD ITEMS, TAKE PICTURES IN CHARACTER CUTOUTS, AND ENJOY A NICE DAY. THE MUSEUM TELLS THE STORY THROUGH EDUCATIONAL EXHIBITS, PUBLICATIONS, AND SPECIAL EVENTS. WE ARE CONTINUING TO PRESERVE AND CATALOG THOUSANDS OF HISTORIC ARTIFACTS, WHICH WILL CONTINUE ON YEARLY. PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES DURING THE ANNUAL WIZARD OF OZ AND JUDY GARLAND FESTIVALS DREW PARTICIPANTS FROM ALL OVER THE U.S, AS WELL AS OUR SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES. IN TOTAL 21 , 727 PEOPLE VISITED THE MUSEUM IN 2019
