The Society's primary exempt purpose is to gather and preserve historical information and materials of Houston County and to disseminate this information to the general public.
THIS YEAR, THERE WERE 381 VISITORS TO VARIOUS MUSEUM SITES AND 34 RESEARCHERS. BESIDES THE VISITORS FROM HOUSTON COUNTY, THE SOCIETY COUNTED VISITORS FROM 14 OTHER STATES. VOLUNTEERS FIELDED 437 PHONE CALLS AND 541 EMAILS. VOLUNTEERS CONTRIBUTED A TOTAL NUMBER OF 5,531 HOURS. 68 ARTIFACTS WERE DONATED THIS YEAR, ADDING TO THE SOCIETY'S COLLECTIONS THAT ARE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC. ALL NUMBERS WERE DOWN DUE TO COVID-19, BUT THE SOCIETY LOOKS FORWARD TO SEEING MORE OF THE COMMUNITY AGAIN SOON.
