Blue Earth Nicollet County Humane Society (BENCHS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to finding loving homes for lost, abandoned and neglected animals. BENCHS is a regional non-kill shelter serving the needs of the greater Mankato area.

Applied human principles to animals. Fostered and developed the care and humane treatment of animals, owned property for the purpose of operating an animal shelter for the care and disposal of animals, educated and assisted in the promotion of humane care of animals. Homes were found for over 1,300 cats and dogs in 2019.
We provided facilities for MN SNAP to hold their low income spay/neuter clinics monthly. This was done at no cost to BENCHS.
Pet food was provided to low income families as often as the food was available. Food used for this program was donated to the shelter.
