Organizations Filed Purposes:
TO PROVIDE SAFETY AND SUPPORT TO VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE THROUGH EDUCATION, ADVOCACY AND SHELTER.
THE EMERGENCY SHELTER SERVED 100 ADULT AND 38 CHILD SURVIVORS OF DOMESTIC AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE. THE SHELTER SERVES WOMEN AND CHILDREN WHO HAVE BEEN VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE OR SEXUAL ASSAULT AND ARE IN NEED OF A SAFE PLACE FOR THEMSELVES OR THEIR FAMILIES. SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE SHELTER INCLUDE 24-HOUR CRISIS LINE, ONGOING CASE MANAGEMENT AND GOAL PLANNING WITH RESIDENTS, HELP WITH HOUSING SEARCH AND PLACEMENT, AND GROUP PROGRAMMING. SOME OF THOSE PROGRAMS INCLUDE SELF-AWARENESS AND MINDFULNESS PRACTICES, UNDERSTANDING HOW TRAUMA IMPACTS COPING SKILLS AND SELF-REGULATION, PARENTING SKILLS, UTILIZING ART TO PROCESS AND HEAL, DYNAMICS OF DOMESTIC AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE, BUDGETING, HOUSING AND TENANT RIGHTS, YOGA, EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION, BOUNDARIES, VARIOUS HEALTH RELATED TOPICS AND SELF-CARE. THE SHELTER ALSO HAS A STRONG CHILDREN'S PROGRAM WHICH PROVIDES SUPPORT TO CHILDREN RESIDING IN SHELTER. THIS IS DONE THROUGH CHILDREN'S SUPPORT GROUPS, PARENTING SKILLS GROUP, CHILD CARE, FAMILY ACTIVITIES, AND A FOCUS ON REBUILDING RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN PARENTS AND CHILDREN THAT MAY HAVE BEEN INFLUENCED BY VIOLENCE IN THE HOME.
THE BLUE EARTH COUNTY DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT PROGRAMS PROVIDE ADVOCACY, CRIMINAL AND CIVIL JUSTICE INTERVENTION, CRISIS RESPONSE, PREVENTION, COMMUNITY EDUCATION, AND SUPPORT GROUPS FOR SURVIVORS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT. SERVICES WERE PROVIDED TO 692 ADULT, 30 CHILD, AND 24 SECONDARY SURVIVORS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. SERVICES WERE ALSO PROVIDED TO 140 ADULT, 13 CHILD, AND 5 SECONDARY SURVIVORS OF SEXUAL VIOLENCE.
THE KEEP ME SAFE PARENTING TIME AND EXCHANGE CENTER PROVIDES SUPERVISED PARENTING TIME AND EXCHANGES TO ALLOW BATTERING PARENTS THE OPPORTUNITY TO REMAIN INVOLVED IN THEIR CHILDREN'S LIVES WHILE KEEPING THE OTHER PARENT AND CHILDREN SAFE. KMS STRIVES TO PROVIDE A SAFE AND WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT FOR THE CHILDREN THAT PARTICIPATE IN THE PROGRAM. SERVICES WERE PROVIDED TO 91 CHILDREN THROUGH 857 SUPERVISED VISITATIONS AND EXCHANGES IN OUR MANKATO AND NEW ULM LOCATIONS.
