WE DEDICATE OURSELVES TO ADVANCING THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES AFFECTED BY HEMOPHILIA OR OTHER BLEEDING DISORDERS BY PROVIDING A BROAD RANGE OF SERVICES AND PROGRAMS.
WE PROVIDE A BROAD RANGE OF SERVICES AND PROGRAMS TO IMPROVE LIFE QUALITY FOR INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES AFFECTED BY HEMOPHILIA AND BLEEDING DISORDERS.
FAMILY EDUCATION EVENTS: HFMD HOSTS MEDICAL EDUCATION WORKSHOPS FOR MEMBERS, WHICH COMBINE INFORMATION PRESENTATIONS ALONG WITH FUN ACTIVITIES FOR PEOPLE OF ALL AGES. SOME FAVORITE EVENTS FOR FAMILIES INCLUDE VISITS TO BUNKER BEACH WATER PARK AND PINZ BOWLING AND LASER TAG CENTER. 4 FAMILY EDUCATION EVENTS WERE HELD DURING THE YEAR.WOMEN'S EDUCATION EVENTS: EACH FALL HFMD AND OUR AFFILIATED HTC'S HOST AN INFORMATIVE AND RELAXING WEEKEND FOR THE WOMEN WITH BLEEDING DISORDERS IN OUR COMMUNITY. THESE WEEKENDS ARE HELD IN A WESTERN SUBURB OF MINNEAPOLIS, IN A BEAUTIFUL FACILITY WITH A LAKE AND WALKING TRAILS NEARBY. THE PARTICIPANTS ENJOY INFORMATIVE SESSIONS, AS WELL AS SESSIONS THAT CENTER ON THE ARTS AND PERSONAL CARE. ALSO, THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, HFMD IN COLLABORATION WITH CHILDREN'S HOSPITALS AND CLINICS OF MN, HOST THREE EVENTS FOR MOM'S OF CHILDREN WITH BLEEDING DISORDERS. THESE EVENTS ARE GREAT INFORMATION SESSIONS ALONG WITH OPPORTUNITIES FOR MOM'S TO SOCIALIZE, SHARE IDEAS, AND GET ADVICE FROM OTHERS WHO HAVE WALKED IN THEIR SHOES.
SUMMER CAMP: HFMD COLLABORATES WITH CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL AND CLINICS OF MINNESOTA TO HOST A SIX DAY SUMMER CAMP IN BEAUTIFUL NORTHERN MINNESOTA EACH JULY FOR 76 CAMPERS AGE 7-17 YEARS WHO HAVE HEMOPHILIA AND OTHER CHRONIC BLEEDING DISORDERS. THE MISSION OF CAMP IS TO TEACH KIDS WITH HEMOPHILIA ABOUT THEIR CONDITION AND TO PROMOTE SAFE WAYS TO GET AND STAY FIT.
BLOOD BROTHERHOOD: OUR BLOOD BROTHERHOOD PROGRAM IS A COLLABORATION WITH THE HEMOPHILIA FEDERATION OF THE AMERICAS TO PROVIDE MEN IN OUR COMMUNITY THAT HAVE A BLEEDING DISORDER WITH OPPORTUNITIES TO GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER AND SHARE THEIR EXPERIENCES. THESE EVENTS HAVE A BRIEF MEDICAL INFORMATION SESSION ALONG WITH POPULAR ACTIVITIES SUCH AS ATTENDING PROFESSIONAL SPORTS EVENTS AND VISITS TO LOCAL COMEDY CLUBS. 3 EDUCATION EVENTS WERE HELD DURING THE YEAR.
